Rocy7 171 Report post Posted January 14, 2015 Oooh, very nice. Any chance of a tutorial? Sorry I use wrong word writing "made" I was thinking of "buy". I simply choose a picture in hight quality from Hubble and sent it to company who made a matt. Cost of it about 20£.

maturin 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2015 Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't like how busy it is, but had not even thought about it getting in the way of actual terrain that will look the same. Anyone have any first hand experience with HotzMatz that can make a comparison of the material its made of? "Felt" is a bit broad. I like the look of their mat. Also one of them is machine washable which would be nice too! Sorry for the delayed reply, but I just joined. Hotz mats are indeed made of felt, but they're sprayed with a fabric binder so they're not your "simple" felt mat that you can get at a fabric store. They're much stiffer and smoother, and the surface doesn't snag your ship stands at all. I can't speak to how well they hold up, since I've only used mine a few times over the past 2 years, but it looks great on the tabletop. The tales about customer service can be true, however - order but don't expect speedy delivery or email responses. The product WILL get to you, it just takes a while. Practice your meditation. GeekKen 10 Report post Posted January 20, 2015 Hotz mats.... The tales about customer service can be true... That's entirely why I decided to dump them. There are better companies out there that offer comparable products with infinitely better service. I want to give Hotz Mats a break, but the service is abysmal. People can, and should, take their business elsewhere.
Ryjak 1,004 Report post Posted January 20, 2015 The 'mousepad' material seems to be the best, from talking to several X-Wing players. The main problems are: Cost Size Design I've been thinking of just buying a black mousepad mat and then figure out how to paint it. http://acehose.com/mouse-pad-material.htm http://www.canalrubber.com/sheet-runner-mouse-pad-sheet-rubber/

Castro 40 Report post Posted September 3, 2015 I sure do good sir!! so the dark black one you see is frontline gaming, the brighter pinker one is through hexagon mill. I would say the frontline gaming one is slightly better only because it comes with a carrying case/bag. The deep cut studios is coming in the the mail so I will be glad to post pictures of that as soon as I get it. 1 Bobthefat reacted to this

Nuck Fewton 139 Report post Posted September 4, 2015 what material is that Jonto? It doesn't look that sturdy.
Bobthefat 64 Report post Posted September 4, 2015 looks to be pvc
Jonto81 16 Report post Posted September 4, 2015 It is pvc - put it on gaming table and blu tax corners, works fine and the material is durable enough
D6Damager 37 Report post Posted September 4, 2015 I have used pvc mats in the past and I found while cheaper they curl a lot more and the surface gets scratched very easily by the acrylic bases in Firestorm as well as the square plastic bases used in X-Wing. It's totally worth it to get a mat that has the mouse pad rubber with cloth top. I have the frontline gaming mat and it works great!
