Uncle_Biggins
Can a ship still use Shunt Matrix while it is at cut engines? I don't see anything where this ability is tied to the engine systems at all but it wouldn't be completely illogical unless they use completely different systems to operate. Sarcastro01
There is nothing under the Cut Engines entry that forbids you from then taking a Shunt action. It just cuts down your minimum move. Taking the Shunt action actually automatically puts the ship into a "cut engines" status so if you're looking for a fluff reason the two systems do seem to be feeding out of the same energy pool to function. Pok
Yes, but Shunt Matrix isn't the same as Shunt acton..anyhow, I couldn't find anything that would deny it, silly as it sounds.
Uncle_Biggins
According to the MAR in particular it says that a model using Shunt Matrix "CAN" not must Cut Engines to do so. In my games against Bane Cruisers, the common tactic was to activate the Banes late in the game, shunt them behind targets with cut engines and then activated them first in subsequent activations while they are still in the right location. If they are not they don't cut engines so they can either manually maneuverer into location or can use a minor shunt next turn to straighten up. steve_990
If "main drive failure critical effect" prevent from battle shunt? It does. It's number 28 on the FAQ.
reddwarf
Actually I think that only says you can't shunt if at a full stop, which is different from Main Drive Failure. This was just discussed the other day. http://community.spartangames.co.uk/index.php?/topic/12870-main-drive-failure-vs-manueverable-mar/page-2#entry234914
steve_990
Oh - that's right. Scanned that a bit too quick. We are still waiting for an official Spartan answer on that thread too Rocy7
Rocy7
In the literature it is often so that the ships using two separate spacecraft propulsion systems to one to fly hyper space and second to manewring within the system. With the adoption of such a system in Armada a damage to "normal drive" does not affect the possibility of jumps.
