Is Landing Field And Towers Worth For Naval Battles?

Recommended Posts

Is the landing field worth fielding for naval battles? As it's cheaper that a carrier and you still get your fighters. Or is that just it looks tempting and is useless and not worth it?

And what about towers? I see the Flak tower has 16" AA, is that worth considering or better takle more ships?

They're a good way to fill up the last few points in a list, much better than a squadron of 2 frigates or the like, and a really cheap activation.

Don't forget you get to use the same models on sea and land with the fortifications. Are they worthwhile? Depends on you race, and the towers etc you have available.

For instance, the French don't need a flak tower thanks to already excellent AA,  but some other nations might find it rather more useful.

Another thing is they can be deployed a long way forward. For example, a Russian gun tower with 3 cruiser guns,( with hard impact!)  for little more than one cruiser, can be deployed on the half way line and forces your opponent to choose between devoting an excessive amount of effort to destroying it whilst your heavy forces close, or ignoring it in favour of said heavy forces, and letting it  fire away...

They're incredibly frustrating for koB and Jap players, being immune to rockets and torps.

A final use for them is terrain- a Bunker or Airfield  is quite big enough to hide a unit of smalls behind, free to rush out when at optimal range.

I tryed Airfield and Gun Towers together with naval models for CoA.

The Airfield was okay. :)

The Towers didn`t bring their points - the main problem was, that the Towers could not link their fire.

You have to deploy the Towers close to each other to avoid it.
