Sounds like a SPACE HULK to me... I love me some space hulk :)

 

I do have a planes for a dreadnaught that will be infected but I have been tinkering with ideas for merging it with a few other ships might even give me an excuse for modding on the dremmel

I really dig the idea that a Pathogen dreadnought is actually just for or five cruiser scale ships merged into a horrifying whole…

Hey there folks,
 

I'm trying to get into firestorm Armada, and cannot decide between Aquans and Relthoza (I assure you this is a Pathogen X9-V post!) to sate my need for vast swarms of SRS tokens.

 

SInce I'm not sure of those major factions, I looked into Pathogen X9-V. Having played a multitude of sci-fi games where I'm the biological/technological Hive Mind Super Predator of those universes, I know for a fact that sooner or later I'll be building a Pathogen Fleet.

 

I need to know though, whether or not Spartan games has mentioned when they hope to release the Pathogen Fleet's 2.0 rules. I'm anxious to start playing as soon as possible, and having a rough time frame might help me decide if I want to go with a major faction or wait until the Pathogen rules are updated.

You may want to wait and grab one of the core factions for now. With Dystopian Wars 2.0 on the very near horizon, Spartan's efforts are mostly focused on the subjects of "steam engines" and "Victorian fashion." I'd say it'll probably be four months out from hearing anything about Marauder factions, at this point, if we assume Dystopian gets the exact same treatment in terms of attention that Firestorm did.

Yes, unfortunately, it doesn't seem that Pathogen will be hitting the shelves anytime soon (I am also waiting with anticipation).

That being said, you can always pick up a core faction to play with for now to get the game rules down, and then convert them to be Pathogen infected later when the new stats drop!

Thanks for letting me know that we're probably a long ways off. Looks like its either Aquans or Relthoza to satisfy my need for a SRS centric fleet.

 

At least if I buy models that perform poorly for me, I'll know what models to throw to the Pathogen when they get updated!

Yo, I'm in the same boat as you, at least in terms of wanting a Pathogen fleet really badly. I will say, I may swipe up one of the current BBs and the escorts- the Brood is probably my favorite model, period, and the fact that the current Pathogen BB is based on the Brood gives me a bad case of Does Want Can Has.

I've been thinking, I would love to see the Pathogen "range" be a conversion pack with assorted pustules and tentacles, consistent CAD elements so one might achieve a consistent look on any victim ship.

So... we've seen one ship's stats, and they're pretty out there. Thoughts?

-very low defense but seems fairly cheap. Not much PD, average DR/CR... self repair is nice, though, I'm sure it'll make larger Pathogen ships absolute beasts to bring down.

-Swarm approach, as seen by the accompaniment options. not sure if the (6) is a cap with accompaniments, but anyways. If Pathogen has Heavy Cruisers, mixed squadrons with, like, three different ship types are going to be a thing.

-The Stem and Mitosis seemed to have veeeeery low points costs for thier... er... well, size since they apparently defy classes. Clearly they'll be ships with very low firepower but potentially equal boarding strength and maybe some pd to add or something. I would assume they mostly exist to be extra bodies on the table.

Because they seem to defy class, I'm wondering if they won't be available as a squadron on thier own and uniquely be accompaniments to make your squadrons swarmy-er.

-Crew Points while being an unmanned vessel. Obviously to keep your ships from being super capturable, but it seems that an unmanned vessel shouldn't lose strength from crew loss and I'm even less clear about what crew loss even is for Pathogen. Anywho.

-New matching weapon type and MAR. I can speculate for days about what the MAR does, but the weapons I have no clue about. I do wonder if they'll be like Robot Torpedoes but a direct fire weapon instead...

-Coherancy effects on mines. Just yes.

-Package upgrades, ie. mines and torpedoes getting boosted by the same upgrade for one cost. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I do not believe I've seen that elsewhere.

Check General Discussions, there's a thread asking for Marauder stats to be released. When I get home and have access to something Iknow how to navigate the web with successfully I'll add the Chaga's current stat sheet to this post, I guess. I'm glad to see someone else is as excited as I am, haha.

That is... very interesting. Incredibly short ranged and only moderately fast - my Aquans will fly circles around them and harass them at range - but I really don't want them to close. 5 AP is pretty incredible on a ship with a squadron size of 4, and it might be even worse depending on the traits of the stem and the mitosis.

 

It seems like a very aggressive fleet, but balanced and interesting to play against. I'm looking forward to it!

In one of the other space games I play, there is one faction that is just a huge looming threat to everyone; one that takes no sides and it out to devourer the entire galaxy. I believe that Pathogen is the devourer of the FSA universe. Can't wait to try these new rules!
