I'm guessing that it won't have any fully "unique" ships of its own barring possibly having its own escort/fighter scale units (and if fighters no models since Spartan don't currently make any for any fighters). Though I've a feeling that for a fleet they will be limited to a specific group of adapted models (be interesting to see which other ones get used).

That said from a conversions standpoint they'd be an ideal fleet for come made conversions once the rules are out (and thus players will know the official ships to convert - though of course they could use almost any).

This update has come not a moment too soon. My new airbrush arrived in the post today so when I finished work I was straight out to my hobby shed feverishly painting my Dinzrenzi and RSN in preparation for all the neat stuff coming out with in this book. Wanting the syndicate ships was one of the main reasons why I started a Zenian league fleet. At some point I may catch up with all of the unfinished projects covering every surface in my prison cell sized shed. Though that's not going to happen whilst Spartan are putting out so many great models.

Veydreth look amazing and they are exactly that in person (mine finally came in the mail today). I should note on them, they are both almost all metal. The DD is pure metal and the Gunship has only the centre section is resin. All four engines, the side 'ribs', the forward guns (tusks) and the three small turret cluster are all metal. It will be beastly heavy when put together. On the plus side, this means you can mount the engines at whatever angle you like.

And the Torpedo and Assault cruisers....well...they're....blue. Yes, certainly very very blue. And bright green, there is that.

Personally though, I really like the look of these (awesome colour pattern):

I'm thinking more the replicators from sg1

The replicators aren't gribbly enough. If I had to draw a star gate parralel it would be with the episode of SG:A where a Wraith cruiser starts building itself in Atlantis. Plenty of gribbly tentacles to found there.

I'll have to see them in person but from the picture I am inclined to agree that they look like fighters.

I have both so I can post up some in progress pics like I did for the Terqaui. The DD is small, just slightly smaller than the Aquan DD which I thought was already on the small size. The Gunship actually isn't that small and is heavy as heck with all the drop-ons. It reminds me of a VTOL though I imagine it is actually probably more likely to see ships like that than most of the other FA ships. I mean, multiple engines that can easily adjust course like what it has are actually more useful in space. The gunships is really nice in person.

It's a very nice ship although Spartan has a hard time with pure pewter. Their models in resin, especially lately, have been so damn clean in terms of mold lines that they've wowed me. The main hull of the Prowler Gunship took nearly zero work to clean and prime (two small mold injection points in the back). But the DDs have maybe...10%(seriously) of their mass in flash. It took me 20+ minutes to clean it all off last night for just one DD and I had to do some putty work to repair the nose of the ship as I had to carve it out of some serious flash.

I will say though, none of the flash ruined the model, and once you clean it up, it's a damn nice mini.

Only complaint (and it's a fluff one) - they're heavy broadside ships but all their guns, which are slung under the ship, are fixed forward. It doesn't make the ship look bad, just there ;).

Of the nine pewter engine blocks on the RSN cruisers I built last week, I think there was one that didn't require serious attention with a file. None of them were bad enough to get me thinking about returns. Then again none of them look 100% right. If there's an area for Spartan to improve in its in their metal work. I'm certainly going to aim for pure resin models in the future. I just don't have enough hours in the day to faff around with engraving bits in a multi tool. I hate to say it but the quality of the metal work I've received lately reminds me of the 'other company' in the late nineties.

Hmm thats what i feared when i read pure pewter as i ordered them. Ive no problem with clearing the flash if its a good model afterwards... well i guess i just have to wait and see. My order should arrive next week latest.
