Schnuersi's Prussian Empire Battlegroup

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

Wanting some comments on the Dystopian Wars minis I recently finished I joined this community... frankly because I didn't know who else to ask.

I haven't painted or played a tt game for more than two years until recently. After strollign into the local games store I stumbeled on the Prussian Empire Naval battlegroup Box. The minis looked great and intresting so I bought it and started painting. I have no knowledge of the rules or the official background. But my next purchase will include the rulebook. Also I never painted any ship models.

Here is a pic of the Battlegroup:

This pic and some more are in my Gallery on this domain: http://community.spa...re-battlegroup/

The main idear was to avoid metallic paints since I find they look strange in small scales. The special armor panels ad guns are a bluish grey to simulate steel or aluminum. While the wires, kables and coils are reddish to look like copper.

The only thing I don't really like is the "sky" on the flyer tokens. Allthough they look better on the picture than in reality.

Thanks for the encouragement guys!

Starting next week I have enough free time to paint some more. So I am thinking about what should be in the next batch.

I like the Robot (although its name is a bit silly ;) ). The dreadnought and carrier also look nice. Painting a Zeppelin would be a complete new experience. Since I still don't have the rulebook and I do intend to play the game at some point are there any suggestion on what minis to pick that look good and are reasonably usefull in the game. From what I read in this forum the cruisers don't seem to be a paticulary good choice.

Looking really nice! The deep blue suits the Prussian forces well - and gives them an intimidating look actually while leaving lots of depth for lighter touches on the superstructure. Great work - if only I could blow them out the water!

The next batch has been ordered.

My small fleet will get swimming Metzgers, Wachter Escorts, Saxony Corvettes, Stolz Destroyers and a Gewitterwolke as reninforcements.

A rulebook is also included in the order. So once I finished painting these I have to start looking for somebody to actually use my fleet on.

Keep on going! I like your painting scheme. Especialy the highlighted metal, "glowing" metal parts.

I am pretty sure you will find someone to play with. DW is getting more and more popular, even here in good old pruss.... eh .... germany.

So finally the first wave of reinforcements for my battle group arrived.

Took longer than I planed.

More pictures in the gallery.

I am thinking about squadron markings for the small ships. But i didn't come up with a good design yet.

Still in the works are:

A Blucher DN, a Rhine carrier, three Hussars, a Metzger (both waterlined and standing), two towers, a Gewitterwolke and two Pflicht
