RuleBritannia Posted August 1, 2019 Report Share Posted August 1, 2019 So the good folks at Warcradle are finally going to reveal their new Cyborg crewed Covenant boats, Zombie Whales and stat cards for the FSA and CoA at Gencon to much rejoicing. For those of us unable to get to GenCon due to poverty, living on the wrong continent or both, can any of those going get some pictures of these futuristic stat cards and models, and see if they have some stat cards for the good old models? I mean that's okay for the friends of Carpathian who are keen on upgrading the weakwilled into becoming involuntary unpaid Cyborg staff members, but fits less with Sturgeon's idealists. And to be honest, it's getting boring. EDIT: i mean, it's perfectly fine to not like how the Enlightened will develope during their new iteration, it's just that you tend to repeat yourself. Part of Warcradle's plan has to make models modular that reflect the narratives of the factions, so I hope the two will be connected in the eventual model production, and this seems an ideal way to do so. The new system is clearly not going to launch with anywhere near the range of models that the old one had at its demise. Esp for the bigger armies like Britannia we won't see half as many ships at launch and it might take years to rebuild to larger fleet diversities. And this is without weapon changes increasing the individual versatility of ships within the current game. So yes I can see some models becoming redundant for a while; whilst others might change size etc..... Though I'm sure we'll see the "core" of fleets appear; it will be things like specialist ships and support units and some of the unique things that might not reappear or might not appear for a very long time. It's just this long, long, long endless waiting that is killing us. Though all signs point that we will see battle once again on the high seas this year. Its harder sustaining the same energy for two games and shortly three games so I wouldn't expect a random DWars box monthly, although I would be delighted if that happened. Secondly we have only seen fpur out of eight beginner fleets for DWars abd the beta will still be used in shows in November and still needs fleet construction rules. I don't doubt your enthusiasm for new DWars I just don't want you to get exhausted by waiting from misplaced optimism. Better to say next year and then be pleasantly surprised if wrong.
