So, I got notice this morning that my Ryushi have been shipped.  So, a five month wait, but not forgotten.

So, a nice surprise package arrived today.  Three Ryushi Battle Carriers arrived in the mail today.  Simple packaging, but all accounted for.  Now to find time to get them painted up...

I haven't seen it mentioned yet but the range of available miniatures has silently expanded. RotO Aquans, Sorylian gunships, Ba'Kash battle carrier, lots of Directorate and Relthoza, Tarakian fighter tokens (lol), Oroshan and Dindrenzi escorts etc.

Yes, I saw it. It is good. And seems that we will get Tarakians!

I don't get why this isn't advertised?

It is incredible. Or they are so low of staff or the old Spartan´s games seems unimportant to them, or we are unimportant to them.

They do not take care of the forum. We are alone here.

I'm sure any incorrect statement would be swiftly corrected.  Warcradle do seem more facebook centric, which is fine unless you are banished from the official facebook groups due to an excess of passion for the setting.  But official announcements of the expanding ranges would get more publicity.

I think we all want to be positive, but it would be damned sight easier if Warcradle could get a bit more positive about their Spartan heritage, their Dystopian wars and Firestorm ranges, and they realised that the community, even when critical, wants to help.  Its been nearly two years, we just want some more fancy boats, and with the long timescale things are taking we need to make sure the community is involved and engaged,

You are right.

A friend and me began to play Firestorm Armada since 3 or 4 years ago. We were enthusiastic with the ship´s models (really awesome), rules and background.

And DW were in our wish list. I fall in love for the DW minis when I saw the Prussian Imperium Sky Fortress for the first time.

The end of Spartan Games was a shock for us. And the Warcladle announcement was encouraging.

Awesome minis, background and good rules are the best basis as possible. A good job with this legacy could be a secure succes. And periodic (near in time) news are needed.

The best way to expand a game is to have enthusiastic gamers (with the game and the company). Then, we need the security of the old model availability and the knowledge of the future of these games. Same: news, news, news....

To clarify on the Spartan models not counting as WC Firestorm models, Stuart was referring to the pricing.  The prices shown for the Firestorm classics should not be taken as an indicator of what price range the new models will be set at.   Which to me makes sense, in that the classics are limited short runs.

Aye it does feel that they teased a lot on Dystopian around Christmas and then ran out of steam on what to update us on when everything was changing around a lot. Then again they made a big choice to re-design a lot of the game models which was a very bold move considering that, whilst they gota messy delivery of moulds, they could have simply relaunched the games without the redesign. Then again considering that the rules are still in beta it might well be that redesign of models isn't actually the bottleneck on the timescales.

I think there are two separate issues there.  One is the discontinuity.  Warcradle have every right to go we have bought this now, we own it, we can throw whatever we want in the bin and make it our own.  However, the time taken to relay this and the way its been handled can be off putting and confusing to those already invested in Spartan's settings and just want more fancy boats, and the treatment of the 'classics' range as quite ad hoc and this only being explained later has perhaps shown some room for improving communication.  As I've said before I don't get why Warcradle is so ashamed of Spartan's games since they bought them, and now selling them and want to create games based upon the same settings and ideas even if they want to shift the fluff and aesthetic.  While I would have preferred more continuity because I don't want to lose the feel and desire to expand an extant force , perhaps a better articulation of the position might be helpful, especially with a lot of talk of some radical shifts in FSA rules.

Secondly, the question of content and timelines and handling the hype.  Because there isn't communication on this its very hard to judge.  While of course Warcradle has every right to withhold information because they are running the show, the lack of timeline and deliberately going dark on information because they don't enjoy fans taking an interest and a critical lens on the project does seem like a lost opportunity for engagement rather than necessary to keep the product popular.  But, to be fair, at an early stage things might still be being played around and give a different impression of the end product.

Well,

I've now been waiting 7 months for an order from Warcradle via their parent company - and at this point I am thinking Wayland should knock the 'available to order' for firestorm models on the head until they have them in hand, as it seems they have no intention of honouring this purchase.

For the two companies to not have communicated a reasonable timescale for production of something 7 months after they have taken customers money for it is more than unacceptable, it ought to be embarrassing.

I think like you. A friend and me are collecting FA and DW and we want to complete our fleets. I think we are not the only ones.

If they produce the missing items, those are sales for Warcradle and satisfied customers who may be excited about the company and will want to continue with the new ships that are produced.

Part of the reason some of the old castings haven't come back is because:

1) they were in poor casting condition when they arrived at WC. Because WC is going with their own vision it doesn't make sense for them to remake broken moulds so they remain lost.

2) They didn't get everything on a neat pallet. Spartan Games wasn't bought out it went through administration. Sadly this resulted in a bit of a messy situation. I believe they also said that the system that archived what mould numbers went with which products and stuff were all lost/inaccessible when they got them. So they had loads of moulds and no way to know what they were for; if they were old or new current or outdated etc...

3) They used metal or multi-material. I know early on WC was only casting all resin models. I'm not sure if they've advanced to resin and metal.

Some good points Overread, but

1. It kind of does considering the amount of demand the Spartan models seem to be having with people spending hundreds of pounds or dollars on finishing collections, and shows there is support for continuing Spartan's vision.  It also doesn't explain why Warcradle won't tell us when stuff isn't available rather then they are waiting for a chance to give the moulds another go.

2. Again let us know when the mould goes down.  We understand its a crapshoot, we just need honesty.

3.  They are doing metal bits now.  This isn't a complaint about the range of models, just that Warcradle won't tell us if models are gone for good or new ones will be cast later.

I do understand that there will be mods I will never be able to get unless I can pick them up from someone who no longer want there 's ... I am saying  It would be nice if WC could make some of the older stuff and make them available to us hard core Firestorm players...... just wondering if they could back engeniered  and licenced to another company so WC can concentrate on newer mods. just a thought

What did you say that was so controversial?

Fishing for a strike no.2? Not nice, @RuleBritannia, not nice at all :D :D :D

On the other hand this is a topic I'm also following with interest, as I also have ships waiting to be moulded. I really want to show that there's still interest in FSA (trying to vote with my wallet), but on the other hand I know, that I'm not really the target audience, so I don't really expect my personal preferences to be taken into consideration (weird huh? Giving someone your money to show that you care, while not expecting that they will care? I'm sure that there's a word for that mental state ;) ).

Anyway.  All I think I can do is wait. Wait for my ships, wait for the beta, trying to give my feedback for the future generations to enjoy the product, that is probably not designed to appeal to me.

But maybe a christmas miracle is about to happen! It's not like warcradle is struggling to meet the demands of holiday orders for their more financiallly sensible lines or trying to build stock for next years Dystopian wars release... oh wait. :(

Sigh. This post turnet out to be a bit of a downer, but there are interesting things just over the horizon! I'm sure a teaser from the new rules would elevate the dreadful winter mood here (hint-hint wink-wink to Big Brother who is always watching)!
