Escort battle log

Without that +1 BL, you've added a big bump in combat effectiveness that isn't reflected in the BL gained from killing the squad.  Also, because they're capital accompaniments, you don't get BL for wiping out the squad until all the accompaniments are dead too.  This is huge on lone battle-cruisers at patrol fleet level.

Are you sure about this?

Pg.32 Accompaniment says that accompaniments don't count as "lead models" for BL purposes.

As for light cruisers, they are always Capitol ships and hence always give up +1 BL as an accompany.

That's a shame.

Capital Accompaniments in a Tier 1 Squadrons mean the following for BL:

  1. You must destroy 1/2 HP of Lead Models to gain +2 BL
  2. You must destroy all Lead Models to gain +1/2 Hull Points BL
  3. Each Capital Accompaniment gains you +1 BL
  4. Your opponent loses 4 BL only when all Lead Models and all Accompaniments are destroyed

Non-Capital Accompaniments are completely ignored for BL purposes, so 2 and 4 happen both happen with all the Lead Models are destroyed and you gain nothing for destroying the Non-Capital Accompaniments.

Yes, sure.

You have to destroy (half of the) "lead models" to get +2 BLP (in this case its not important if the accompaniment is capital or not), but you have to destroy the whole squad to inflict -4BLP on your opponent. (p. 118) In this case you have to divide because of

"Non-Capital accompaniments do not count as part of the Squadron for the purpose of Battle Log adjustment" (p. 82).

So you can have 3 "Escort"-Models flying but still lose the points because the squad is destroyed (capitol accompanieing models are part of the squadron, so you have to destroy every model!)
