Planetfall ORBATS V6 - LIVE!

Recommended Posts

I've playtested a against an Relthozan orbat which had more nerfs then the current release and trust me the Relthoza are still very scary. However now we have a fair fighting chance against them.

I think the playtest group did a great job with these orbats. I think it is up to the players to try them out in the wild and see how it goes.

Personally I now want to expand the Relthozan Core I have to get some games in with them, given that they no longer have the big i win button they always used to and will require additional thought and planning (the bit I really like about PF) I think they will be much more rewarding to play.

The challenge everyone is seeing is how long they have been the way they are and how much some of the units have changed.

Its worth everyone noting that the Beta group didnt decide on a double nerf / double buff / any of the in between in one fell swoop.

plenty of changes were made and suggested, plenty did not make it through the games that were played by the Beta team, by Spartan Derek, and the people there will go for min max to see what works. Derek himself plays all races and will hammer through the games with a faction.

These arent knee jerk reactions, they arent things that havent been considered, and most of all the overall changes should improve EVERYONE's enjoyment.

Is it perfect, probably not, because as many games as the Beta testers might play, and as many games as Spartan Derek might play it doesnt mean we will pick up all combinations, but thats why Gr1mdan is saying PLAY SOME GAMES.

I posted a battle report recently (found here.... http://community.spartangames.co.uk/index.php?/topic/17791-directorate-vs-sorylians-3500-points/), thats the type of thing we are doing in the Beta forums, and if any of you have the time (which I appreciate isnt always easy) battle reports like that are fun to read, and give you an awesome idea of how the game proceeded, especially with things like where the TV comes from.

But even small posts that show you you played x race vs y race and the results and ideally the army list (although I always think a quick picture of the army prior to deployment will do just about the same thing).

That type of information plus all the games the beta testers play, that spartan play that you guys play will help feed in how the factions are panning out and what future changes might be required.

Also dont forget to post on the Warlog, I will note down all the games from now that use the latest Orbats so we can track how that affects the stats, but at the moment we dont have many people posting.

The more information the more of a resource that is to see how the factions are performing, who is winning the war, and for stato's like me figures to play with!

After six months of waiting for the answer to everything play some games and test.

I think it is unworthy of the confidence that the Spartan Games received from the players.

Not to mention the time and money invested... :(

After six months of waiting for the answer to everything:  play some games and test.

The Beta testers are players, we all applied and got involved we all had to put the hours in and Spartan does pay me for my time, my games or anything like that.

So why after all the games played on our side would you think that we decided to nerf things just for the hell of it?

I dont think your money has been misspent, I think that when you play your first few games you will find you need to learn a couple of new tricks, and after that you will have close, bloody and decisive battles that leave you interested to see how its going and reacting to your opponents movements.

Prior to this all some factions don't do that, there seemed to be little excitement at how close the games were, and some factions were run away victors in the vast majority of the games played by them.

Spartan hasn't decided to unilaterally nerf your stats, and has listened to the players, and the beta testers have listened to the people that post on the forums.

I am not asking you to trust Spartan, I am asking to trust a load of players that have played many many test games and reacted to the feedback from each other to help improve a game we all love.

I know thats what I want to have happening to a game I play.

Also as a side note with a recent birthday i am going to be getting into the Relthozans in a big way, love the models, love the asthetic and think that they are still one of the best races out there and I expect to win big, lose big and have a lot of fun doing it!

I'm genuinely curious, what IS your beef with the new Orbats? I can list mine down quite well, but I want to hear from your incessant negativity without having even tried them. Its like putting pepper in your soup without tasting it.

I can't stand watching people do that.

My moan

Orbats - format and layout.

The order units are listed and structured is abysmal.

Helixes are listed in a defined order with their appropriate models and units and the structure each unit has - Core, Heavy, leviathan, Recon etc etc.. but the units and models are then listed in a completely different order by type.

Why? It's just clumsy.

I did a lot of thinking of format and layout for Orbats (for translation) but I did not come to a satisfactory solution.

Order is usually something as : Lev, Command, Heavys, Mediums, Transports, Infantry, Assault Helixes, Aerial Helixes, Allies

If you have an idea for a better format, I'd be happy to hear it =)

We've updated them again and hopefully fixed all the errors.

Thank you for sticking by us. We know some tough changes have come in to place but we must adapt and over come.

Please note I'm not a Relthozan player. I like railguns...

Relthoza Core Helix:

Requisites:

Visith Heavy WALKER

Salamas Heavy WALKER

Namisc Light WALKER

Option

Varic Medium Specialist WALKERS (attached individually to the Heavy or Medium TANK Battle Squadrons within the Helix).

What TANK squadrons? They're all WALKERS

Yeah I picked up on that.

I admit that I'm a little disappointed that it seems like my proof read notes were forgotten/ignored.

We'll get there... ;)

Can you share your proof read notes on the matter, if there is no sensitive information ?

We are creating Orbats for french translation, but I'd like some insights to have a better formatting.

thanks !

By Helix not Type

In the order in which they are listed in the Helix building section.

Edit:

Core

         Requisites

         Options

         Transport

Heavy

         Requisites

         Options

         Transport

Leviathan

         Requisites

         Options

         Transport

Recon

         Requisites

         Options

         Transport

Interceptor/Ground Attack

         Requisites

         Options

         Transport

Command

         Requisites

         Options

         Transport

Assault

         Requisites

         Options

         Transport

Allies (with any subsets in same order)

If a Helix includes a unit from another Helix then simply add reference to that units 1st location.

i.e Leto as option in Leviathan Helix for Dindrenzi

I thought about it, but it would add redundancy, for units that are in multiple helix. For example, Namisc a in Core, Leviathan and Heavy relthoza helix, same with sory's ka'kun.

And that would make longer orbats. It could be an option, but I don't think everybody would like it.

Thanks for the idea anyway =)

It really wouldn't be any longer

I have just disasembled the Orbat, re-arranged in that order and its actually 1 page shorter.

Fire a copy over to me, and I can submit it via the Beta team, worth a look I think, although of course no promises on timescales etc, but I will provide you some feedback.

That's a nice way of doing it Garviel. The Beta team however had little to no input on the format and it's something we weren't tasked with doing and to be perfectly honest, I manage quite fine as it is but there is ALWAYS room for improvement so I wouldn't dismiss your idea at all.

I think that our Relthoza players will actually now come down the club for a game instead of hiding because no one wants to play them. Let's see what the win stats are for Relthoza. I bet they will still be decent.

The army is still solid. Quite frankly if I hear spider people moaning that they outshoot Sorylians at long range anymore I will flip. Get closer. Learn from your Terran and Directorate players.

Also you still have cloak. Which makes your units bloody awesome ;)

A couple of quick observations/queries:

Assault Helix Thunderous charge - Directorate and Aquan are missing the rushed penalties sentence

Directorate Heavy Helix - Requisites state that the Castigator must take an attached Stalker.  Does this mean it can no longer be attached to the Avengers?

Really looking forward to playing with the new Orbits next week.

Cheers
