Turning 1200 omnidyne into 1500

Recommended Posts

My current 1200 list is as follows

+++ 1200 omnidyne (1200pts) +++

Battleship (255pts)

··Executive [+3 WC, Countermeasures, Cyberwarfare Weapons, Torpedoes]

····Interceptor Token [3x Interceptor]

····Synergy Accompaniment [2x Synergy]

Battleship (255pts)

··Executive [+3 WC, Countermeasures, Cyberwarfare Weapons, Torpedoes]

····Interceptor Token [3x Interceptor]

····Synergy Accompaniment [2x Synergy]

Gunship Squadron (255pts)

··Auditor Squadron [Only OSO & Directorate]

····3x Auditor [3x Cyberwarfare Weapons]

Gunship Squadron (255pts)

··Auditor Squadron [Only OSO & Directorate]

····3x Auditor [3x Cyberwarfare Weapons]

Corvette Squadron (90pts)

··Synergy Squadron

····6x Synergy [6x Torpedoes]

Corvette Squadron (90pts)

··Synergy Squadron

····6x Synergy [6x Torpedoes]

I want to now make this a 1500 point list

I will add 6 more corvettes straight off the bat, but what else? I would like the extra 210 points to get me another tier 2, but the marauders list has Max 2 gunship squadrons, and omnidyne only have gunships as T2. So what other marauder T2 would work well with this fleet.

My other (pretty scary, but low ship count) option is..

Add 6 corvettes, then drop both battleships and take

2x

Dreadnaught with 2 synergies

Torps

Cyber warfare

Self repair

4 interceptors

This option puts 2 supernnasty dreads on the field, but would leave me with only 7 activations at 1500 points and be very top heavy points wise.

Any thoughts?

Do you have any objections to branching out of pure OSO? Be nice if they had something like a bog standard cruiser or frigate option, or maybe an R&D ship. You could always add a T2 pirate squadron for something quick to make up for the fore arc reliance of the OSO bruisers.  Or maybe syndicate.

I love OmniDyne, they're some of the coolest ships in my opinion.  I've only really got one opponent these days and he's got my torpedo lists on lock down so I don't play my OSO like I want to. :\

You have a fun looking list though.

The way to build a 1500 point list isn't to plus up a 1200, but to start from scratch. Your Core requirements are:

3x Tier 3

2x Tier 2

2x Tier 1

Let's assume you go with maximum sized tier 2 and three, a battleship, and a dreadnought. How many points is that without upgrades?

With that number, you can then start determining how many points you have to add additional models to your fleet. Also, I would not add more Omnidyne squadrons beyond these minimum requirements. Try branching out into other factions instead.

I was thinking of branching out from omnidyne, but wondered what ships would complement them, am thinking maybe my oroshan, for a squad of fast cruisers.

Going from scratch

2x battleships with upgrades

2x gunship squads with upgrades

3x corvette squads

=1280 points

So 220 to spend to go to 1500

That buys me 3 oroshan cruisers (4 if I drop a couple of corvettes somewhere)

Or 5 of those pirate cruisers (heavy frigates in my eyes)

Assuming you're using Assault Robot Torpedoes, I'd look for lots of cheap AP. 120 points can get you 6 Oroshan or Corsair Frigates with 12AP. Grab a second squadron of 5 with the remaining 100.

Or go Heavy with either Battlecarrier. The Corsairs can bring a multiple assault Token, the Oroshan bring Special Forces.

I already own loads of oroshan frigates, so that sounds like a good idea

Also considered

3x brigands

+1 Dr/+1 turn

Launch tubes + second assault

Assault blitz

(150 points)

These can race up the field dropping mines with their plating down for DR6CR7 then assault any decrewed vessels. I do take assault robot torpedoes, so my opponents ships end up with badly damaged crew numbers.

That still leaves me 70 points for something else or other upgrades, like biohazard on all torps to further melt people's crew :)

Potentially, if I drop assault blitz from the brigands, taking them to 135 points, I can then drop 4 corvettes from somewhere (maybe some of the escorts as I took 2 on each BB), in could then have 2x3 brigand cruisers to throw AD and mines around.

That's exactly what my buddy does. I'm not really sure how to deal with two OSO Dreds, they might be the most annoying ship in the game to deal with

As gloriously scary as the dreadnought is, its just so many points tied up into 2 ships :P would love to give it a try though, but think at 1500, having so few activations will hurt, and despite the toughness of the dreads, for 750 odd points, they don't throw out all that much damage so may struggle to keep up in the long game one the gunships are dealt with.

Has anyone tried making use of the Directorate commander's ability to combine Works Raptor and OmniDyne? How viable would something like that be?

I push some thoughts around my head every now and then about this. Usually I just give up theorycrafting and come to the conclusion that it's not all that useful except in some nice big grand fleets. However, I think it can be done, just with a fair amount of 2 model squadrons. 2 Auditors, 2 Turmoils, 2 Nullifiers, 2 Annihilaitons, all of these squadrons are in the 150-200 points range, so a battlefleet can fill up on tier 2's this way, and none of these squadrons are useless. Then, you'll still have enough room (I think) for some tier 1's and 3's.
