New Faction Objective Markers

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if the new Faction specific ob markers you get for pre ordering the Assault helix are 5 x the same marker or you get 5 different ones.

Just I would rather get the new one plus 4x random ones as it seems silly to have lots of lost terran commanders all over the place.

It says they are 5 markers for the same faction that your pre order of the assault squad is for. So it would be 5 the same. The only way to get different ones would be to either request it specially and see if Spartan will do that or to order more than one assault helix at once/

It is 5 the same, a single set based on the helix you order; eg from the Reltholza page

"Place your pre-order before Monday 25th January 2016 and you will receive a FREE set of five Relthoza Objective Markers. You will receive one Objective Marker Set for each Assault Helix you pre-order. Your Objective Marker Set will be sent with your order when it ships"

Thanks for confirming what I can already read.

My question is is the 5 markers you get all of the same thing?????

No need for the attitude.

I was simply stating what you get per Assault Helix.

Apologies if I was in any way rude.

I actually want all of the ones for the Factions I don't have... When I'm wearing my Terran hat, screw saving a commander that managed to get himself cut off. He's on his own. And when in my Dindrenzi hat, I normally have so many Leto's I won't really be missing a single crashed one.

But capturing that tasty Directorate Tech or Terran Commander for some 'discussions' is much more appealing to me... :P

I agree with corrupted:

Maybe this will show spartan that there is a market for theses markers, and they release them at a later date as a set of 5 random ones?

I'm hoping to see a second Terrain Box at some point, perhaps include these there?

I'll probably trade some of my Aquan objectives with my opponents who bought in to this deal... That way I get some more variation.

I'm trying to get them available as 'Show only' releases along side this pre-order deal.

Basically having something Limited, a lot of companies do it and it attracts business to them on show days.

(and shipping 5 markers = no profit at all really, it's not a good business move. If they are included in something else, like another terrain box, maybe it would be worth it)

Brilliant idea... For people that can get to shows. But personally seeing as the closest place that tends to hold shows here in Australia is literally the other side of the continent, I think making them available in some manner other than 'Shows Only' is called for.

But that's against the whole "limited release" then ;-) If you make it available to everyone, it's not "special" anymore and doesn't push people to order, which, at the end of the day is the whole idea. Hawk did it last year with their unique Battlebus model for The Resistance. Warlord did it with a model too.

You'll have to pre-order from Spartan to get them if there are no shows then ;)

I'm always against 'limited release' pieces for this very reason.

Obviously not everyone can get along to game shows, be it work commitments, location or cash flow. Right now is a quiet time in my professions year, so cash is very tight, meaning I have no way of pre-ordering these kits. That now means I am incapable of ever getting these tokens, short of a $600+ plane ticket to the other side of the continent for a show, and just hope they even have any of them...

I have no issues if they get rolled into a second terrain box or something, but making Limited Release stuff just for Game Shows is a big no-no for me.

I have to agree that I like the idea of special releases but I don't like the idea of limited print runs of models. From Spartans point of view doing a limited run also means risky investment on a model and moulds that might not recoup its investment in good time for the books.

Personally I like how Privateer Press does it.

1) You've got limited release special alternative models released at conventions which are also, during the convention, sold through their online store.

2) You've got a selection of alternative specialist high-end sculpts which are sold all year through their store and through their distributor stores through the world.

The only downside is that the limited sales avenue means ordering overseas and paying a higher postage cost; but in the end it means that they've got some really outstanding models that sell at a higher or exclusive point in time, but which have no effect to gameplay.

They are purely replacement models for existing ones in the army line-ups, but they offer either a really fantastic sculpt in the case of the alternative specialist models; or in the case of the limited edition release they are a quirky fun model (eg the one for Legion of Everblight is a Nyss bathing in the Spawning Pot).

And that I feel is a good way to do it, especially for a company based in the USA where there are quite a few conventions through the year which means those limited edition models are on sale a good few times through the year. Selling them through the website at the same time also means that players are not punished for not attending, but also means that it retains that special feeling of buying one.

Were Spartan to do this I feel that the above model would be a good one to emulate; although the limited edition releases might be more limited in scope if they are only sold at UK conventions as we have fewer major ones through the year; so holidays might also be a good time to put them up for sale for a bit.

We all know Spartan can turn out some fantastic models so alternative high detail more extreme pose models could be a thing for them, then again it is more investment and with Spartan focusing more on boxed sets over individual sales it might not fit into their current sales design.

That's a good idea Overread, I can get behind that.

In fact I think Spartan did that last year for Salute and the Halo busts if I remember correctly?

I'm sure they won't hurt customers on purpose and will find another solution whilst still making them "limited" edition.

:)

As a customer I don't really mind if a previously announced 'Limited' edition becomes part of something else, I'm seldom buying things for the 'Limited' status anyway, but as a nice freebee (like in this case).

But yes, that is a good idea, and more variation is never wrong, provided it can be achieved without costing either the company or the customer an inordinate amount.
