So, at long last I've put my paint brush where my mind is, and started painting my denizens of the South Pole!

With the recent announcement of new CoA releases I've become inspired to at least settle for a colour scheme for my poor lead men, woman and automatons...

NB: I've yet to play a game with them, we tried pitting my friends French against my Prussians with our introductory DL 2.0 battle, but realized that with only the contents of the Iron Scorpion set they were at a disadvantage, so I never tried them (and then a small game called Planetfall dropped...)

So, enough talking, here are some pictures:

WIP Automata:

Almost finished Automata (sorry about the glare, bad light conditions in combination with the AP dip creates the shine):

And at last a concept for my Commandos (yes, that is a triangular splinter camouflage pattern... Yes, I intend to paint it on every Commando. No, I'm not insane, although my wife might want to have me tested when I'm finished...)

The backstory of the force is fairly simple: a rapid reaction force, made to be inserted into hot spots around the world, as mobile reinforcements. Focus will be on drone soldiers, to fill out the ranks, and provide a force that can be quickly repaired, and re-supplied (lost a platoon of drones? Plenty more where they came from!). With the Covenants unique abilities regarding logistics and manpower, a Quick Reaction force based on horde tactics is not only feasible, with the limited human manpower available I'd argue that it's the best option..

(Yes, the commando paint scheme is inspired by a real world example... Desert splinter camo and grey gear might sound familiar to some: https://parlkastaren.files.wordpress.com/2015/06/mali.jpg )

Thanks everyone!

Slick: what is it that you don't like about it? I havet som issues myself with the pictured example, that will be changed on my next try, but some more input couldn't hurt.

Really nice looking!
I Love the camo on the Commando, only a weird combination with the very light blue/light grey armour but I like it :)
(And such a test is easy.....my parents signed my up multiple times and I still keep buying more and more and I'm yet not in the Asylum of Tilburg hahahaha, I think all Wargamers have that problem)

It's not bad but I think it was kind of lost with the colors of the rest of the model. It didn't really pop out for me. Maybe a bit 'more' of the camo colors in smaller sections...

Take a look at these for an idea:

I see what you mean, and I agree, the bright grey draws the eye a little bit too much, I'll probably tone it down a bit next time, even before the dip mutes it further.

I actually intend to keep the different coloured fields fairly big, although the example is exaggerated, both by the size of the fields, and by the fact that the model is crouching, I should have picked a standing soldier instead...

Thanks for the input, let's see if I can get the next one better...
