haatel
Hochmeister have same troubles, i think. Especialy compared with other melee variants of bots. Tevtons can give +d3 to move, which makes Hoch a rocket - 7+2d3 move is literaly 9-13 inches (ranged modification is 8-10, what is nice too, and i think pretty balanced compared to other mechs). Metzger with it is 8-12, so its good too. But i dont think spartans will add such buff to prussian robots, even if it will fix balance.
Mandzark
I always thought the Metzger was a fine vessel for the price. Has a great degress of firepower and intimidation and a solid durability at a cheap cost. Only reason it isn't "used more" or is found lacking, is that the Prussian Larges are already a tough cherry pick! Not a lot of bad apples in that bunch. Then when you start looking at Addlers, Donnerfausts and Havels... the "justification" for taking the big robot just falls short. But as he is, still a great model. Id be tickled to have a Russian "smaller-Large" robot!

doubleones
Considering the Metzger is B now, are there plans for other variants? In version 1 the Metzger was just the Metzger. We were gifted a -B version during the 1.1 days and your could field either. The Original "A" version is no longer listed in 2.0. It was indeed relatively weak and the -B was a very welcome buff. It was cheap and had some pretty decent AD and came in squads of two. The Metzger B made it better in water, but then it went up to 150pts from 90pts. If I'm honest, I kept using the Metzger A and I'm sad that it wasn't kept anyway.
Nazduruk_Bugzappa
The "A" Metzgers have all been recalled, and retrofitted into St.Michaels
Merlin
It was never explicitly stated that's what happened. We just assume that.
likeAsir
I have recently started Prussians and I gotra admit: will only take these boys on land. I would like to see more max/min Metzger profiles. Possibly specialist in range or boarding. One as a schluder platform and maybe another that is stripped down for speed and has a nasty boarding profile.
Merlin
I'm just curious, does anyone actually use Metzger for any reason other then "I have the model so might as well use it sometimes"? Does anyone use it strictly on its own merits? Does the weapon stats justify the 150pts price tag it commands, or in any situation not feel like another squadron would be a better use for the points you spending? For example, in naval games (what i mostly play) I would easily consider taking a Battlecruiser, long before I think of bringing Metzger. I'd even consider bringing a Gewitterwolke before thinking of bringing Metzger. So I'm curious about whether anyone actually thinks Metzger is relevant anymore...aside from story telling/propaganda purposes
Nicius
I've been thinking along the same lines as well. Metzgers are great models and I really like the idea behind a large robot smashing ships. However, I think they suffer from the fact that they have to be balanced between land and naval battles making them sub par in naval. Which is a pitty. Nazduruk_Bugzappa
My Metzgers are pretty much STO. This includes one that I recently converted into a St.Michael
likeAsir
For the same price the Brit's get the Vengeance. The Vengeance is far more survivable and has a larger damage output. Saying that I will buy and use them. Cos giant steam punk robot's are cool and make you into a sexual tyrannosaurus.
Nicius
I guess I'll get mix giant steampunk robot fix when I buy a Hochmeister. Can't seem to find a excuse to use a Metzger, although I really like the models!

herezjohny
Because the battle robot can be in the water, does it still count as a land or navel unit?
Veldrain
It is listed as an Armoured unit so it is land. Regardless of where it happens to be standing at the time.
Fedora71
Yup, that's an annoying drawback of it. I'd like a more Marine version of it but *shrugs*
Jsiegel1983
I use the Metzger during Naval battles on occasion. I bring 2 because I like giant robots. They always die horribly and never make their points back. If they made the saint Michael pattern multi-purpose I would use them a lot more. Nicius
Well I've recently acquired two Metzgers along with a Rhine and dome escorts. I'm considering using them now since I have the model. I plan on running both to get at least on amongst the enemy. Any pointers on Metzger use? Looking at the AA a cap seems mandatory. And some close escorts to block torpedoes.
Merlin
Simple tip? Don't use them in Naval games. Period. They suck so bad. Presidente

Nicius
Is it really that bad? Their dr/cr seems semi reasonable for their points. I'm taking two for redundancy. I know they're no Tourbillions or something like that but they should do something right?
Presidente
Its never going to be as good as ship in naval game
Nicius
Sure in a tournament I wouldn't take one. However I don't play tournaments and we don't have a super death meta locally. Anything usefull to add?
