Official Kurak Alliance Thread: Xelocian

Recommended Posts

Any word on carriers and / or battle cruisers for the Xelocians?

While I'm sure the Xelocian fleet will be expanded some day - they're just to cool not to - I doubt anyone knows what direction that will go, perhaps not even Spartan yet.

I saw that but the info is general. Not very detailed.

Unfortunately, that's pretty much all we got. There was an earlier version, but it had pretty much the same amount of info, but with a few differences. Who knows, they might get a blog post like the Keldorians did.

Hoping they do. The write ups they did for the Kedorians and Relthoza were some nice pieces of background.

References to them being called "vultures" as a derogatory term has put very specific images in my mind. Long necked, larger beaked- not necessarily fierce or proud looking, I'd imagine... Storks, herons, flamingoes (if you're feeling jaunty), ostriches, cassowaries, and of course vultures.

So I have been fooling around with tournament lists (lists because the tournaments I go too allow two lists to be used as long as the same main faction is being used). Now the one list I have tried is pretty solid - which consists of One battleship with Lasharn escorts, three (!) groups of cruisers and 2 groups of small frigates`. Tried, true, and works great - problem is I wanted to use the dreadnought for my second list. Now I built a list but I have literally 210 points left to spend - which leaves me with realistically two choices (maybe three if I look towards Teraquoi torpedo boats). So the dreadnought list looks like this:

Dreadnought (390)

+1 SH (15)

+4 WC (5)

-1 TL (10)

6x Bombers (30)

2x Support Shuttles (10)

3x Larchan Escorts (60)

+1 PD (0)

4x Cruisers (260)

2x Karn Frigates (40)

2x Karn Frigates (40)

So that right there is 790 Points - leaving me with 210.

Now the two combos of 210 I came up with are (and why):

3x Hawker Resolute Cruisers with Weapon Shielding - Great little cruisers with 5 HP and weapon shielding. Great for tossing out lots of dice in three arcs (turrets, starboard, and fore torpedoes) or for going big and combing the turrets and the starboard/port. Have one shield - not the best but ok - but good move and average DR/CR. Can shunt in and create havoc in the back-line.

Or...

3x Veydreth Stalker Assault Cruisers with Second Assault - Also great cruisers. Not as hardy as the Hawker ones, but allows for 6(!) boarding assaults when you shunt in (or close to it) and roughly the same amount of dice (although not as flexible since there are no turrets). Also, and this is big, 4 mines each! Also 2" more move which does come in handy.

So what you guys think, what would benefit that dreadnought list well? ?

I remember one of the older blog posts that seems to have disappeared described them as having many different racial variations including some raptor and colorful parrot-like.

My profile pic is along those lines ;). An alkari diplomat I believe.

Have any of you considered the naming conventions for Xelocians? There is a ton of it on Dindrenzi and Terran but I can't find any for us. I want to name squadrons, not individual ships to differentiate frigates mostly. I tried following some of the ship classes and they are taken from various languages. Hulaka might be taken from Hawaiian Hula-ka, which is a graceful opening dance. Larshan is a chinese and middle eastern name I believe.
