Updated MAR list

Recommended Posts

With the release of the new Orbats, there are quite a few new rules running around them, some of which are fairly similar, and could probably be put elsewhere to save space (and computing power). Perhaps Spartan should collate a few of these and add them to the list of MARs in the rulebook? The ones I'm thinking of are:

- Ground Attack - may fire Main Ordnance at Surface units after making a flat out move, however shots are Rushed

- Air Assault - may fire Main Ordnance at Aerial units after making a flat out move, however shots are Rushed

- Multipurpose Assault - may fire Main Ordnance after making a flat out move, however shots are Rushed

- Furious Charge - may perform Leviathan CQB after making a flat out move, however attacks are Rushed

- Dogfighter* - ignores Sectored Armour MAR when targeting Flying models

- Predator (x pts) - squadron may purchase Recon Specialist for x pts per model, but all models in the Squadron must purchase it.

- Attachment (unit type) - may attach to nominated unit type, increasing the squadron TV. Only one attachment per squadron

- Sky Drop Asset - unless otherwise specified, must deploy by Sky Drop

- Conditioned (unit, x pts) - All of specified units in the same Helix as this unit must have/may pruchase the Fearless MAR for +x pts per model)

- Portal Capable (unit) - this unit may make use of specified portal unit - (why isn't this in the MAR list? The Portal MAR is in the list, but for some reason, the companion one is in the Terquai list)

Thoughts? Any I've missed?

* With regards to the Dogfighter MAR, I do know where its coming from, and what its supposed to do, but I foresee some people complaining about it - Flyers don't get Sectored Armour as standard, instead, its a line on p107 - "Models withe the Flying LoS Class, Infantry (both types) or with the Sectored Armour MAR are never affected by Flank or Aft attacks."

Basically, my interpretation of this is that Flyers have a quality similar to the SA MAR, but it is not specifically the MAR. Which means that you could interpret it as meaning that Dogfighter really has no effect, as its cancelling an MAR that is not there in the first place.

Except that would be a silly argument. The second half of the dogfighter rule specifically says "Flying Target models may therefore suffer Flanking or Rear penalties to their Damage Rating when attacked by a Dogfighter"

So even though you would be correct that the rule is never specifically called sectored armour, the dogfighter rule clarifies that it does not matter since fliers will suffer the penalties to their DR.

cheers
