Capture the Station: Can the station be...destroyed?

Recommended Posts

I played a game with a villainous terran opponent a few days ago in a Capture the Station scenario. I brought my Dindrenzi with the Praetorian all primed for boarding. Halfway through the game i successfully took the station, upon which my opponent got rather lazy (crazy?) and wanted to just blow the station up. Declaring that he'd rather see the station burn then see it in the hands of the enemy (even though you can board it back... I swear this guy was the one that hit the big red button during the glassing of Dramos). I said no because there's no point in even playing now if your just going to do that, just withdraw. Since points can only be earned by holding the station, blowing it up would essentially end the game. I convinced him not to be an ballsack and just play the game to the best of his ability, though i still won by a good margin.

But it begs the question, can the station be destroyed officially? Or is it invulnerable due to the scenario?

No, you very much can destroy the station.  Either because you're the attacker and no longer have a chance to capture it and want to stop giving up points to the defender, or if you're the defender and the attacker has captured it.  The scenario rules are an addition to the normal battle log rules for victory, not a replacement to them.
