The fact that the Directorate leviathan isn't a giant robot gives me hope for variety in them. ahmadan Posted February 19, 2015 Report Share Posted February 19, 2015 It's going to be interesting to see the stats, I'm interested in how it will balance with the Heavy helix (especially with the changes from v1.4 to 1.6 citing balance as a factor). Now to figure out a way of bringing more AA into the list, I have a feeling I'll be swearing at that flyer in a month or so... October? Got to give Spartan time, 2015 is their big year for all their games. With how cool these look, I think the wait has been worth it. We have been joking in my group at the idea of a Sorylian AT-AT leviathan, an Aquan floating shark leviathan (complete with JAWS music), and Relthoza having Scorponok from G1 Transformers. The leviathans are super big chunks of resin and metal. Honestly, I don't expect the Wraith to weigh more than a Desolator, the Hyperion/Odin may weigh 1.5 times a Heavy. Even so, that's not seeming correct. gr1mdan Posted February 20, 2015 Report Share Posted February 20, 2015 Some interesting things about the new Leviathans from the fluff * The Leto's in the Dindrenzi set are NOT standard versions. They are modified to help bring the Hyperion in to battle from low orbit and provide more close quarters support. New stats for a modified version? It seems so. More CQB I imagine. * The Thor has THREE, yes THREE, weapon systems :-D Legacy Laser, Shrike Rotor Cannon AND multiple Raptor Grenade Launchers. It also brings Artillery with it and it's own Nexus! Holy god damn that's brutal. Their Valkyrie escorts look to be standard versions but that's two more scoring units. * Wraith is a beast but drops a Grand Company Cadre which comes in an APC. Looks like a brutal support type leviathan that can still dish the pain out. Looks like these guys will change the face of the Battlefield once again but I think dedicated firepower will see these guys eventually fall. Can't wait! Pok Posted February 20, 2015 Report Share Posted February 20, 2015 I suspect that the pricecomes from the fact that a single leviathan has more parts than the entire core helix in many cases. Now, I don't know that, but it seems so. And resin models with complex shapes apparently not only take longer to cure (cause otherwise you get warpage), but also chew up the mould faster. I can't help but be a little disappointed that were not getting the other three leviathans at the same time as these, and I hope in the future they try to release helix contents for everyone simultaneously. I'm using Directorate buggies as my light tanks, and this means I'll need another 10 of them...and they're not avaliable as individual models yet. Still, love the model. We get 8 Patriots, yes they all have to dogpile on the same objective, but at least they're hyper aggressive and riding in style thanks to the Haunter. (Why do I always picture the Pokémon Haunter?! O.o?) Because my PMC is based on the Terran army list. I'm just using some different models (Buggies as Light tanks, seriously considering using the cybertank as a shield gen tank, like the look of the Directorate APC, just waiting to see the recon helix to make a final decision etc...) EDIT: Although...now looking at the Haunter...argh... Yes, back to a Directorate-based list with some Terran aesthetics. Which is also good because it means I don't have to paint up so many Ullrs now. And I gotta figure out how to convert an Ullr into a drone carrier.
