WAR LOG 3725

Recommended Posts

Players:  WR_Commander/ Josh (not from forum)

Points Value: 1000

Scenario: N/A

Factions:  Veydreth / Works Raptor

Battle Log Score:  9 / 4

Brutal engagement with Works Raptor destroying my Veydreth Predator Class Admiralty Battleship on top of turn 2.  Unfortunately the Works Raptor Assault Carrier was not timely in shunting in (turn 4) and the Veydreth Prowler Gunships and Stalker Assault Cruisers had enough time to get in amongst the works raptor Tyranny corvettes (2 units) and Interdictor cruisers (2 units).  Mines and beams cut many of the corporate ships down.   Veydreth Reaver corvettes, who had been in a cloud disordered for 4 turns found their cohesion just in time to severely damage the Interdictor Assault cruiser as it shunted in.  The Assault cruiser's hull breached was by Reaver mines on turn six, clearing the field.  One Works Raptor corvette was able to flee the field to report back to the corporation while the remnants of the Veydreth concentrated on the Assault Cruiser.  The Veydreth are quickly fortifying,  awaiting the Works Raptor reprisal...

Points Value: 3000

Scenario: Border Clash

Factions:  Dindrenzi / RSN  vs.  Terran / Ryushi / Xelocian / Veydreth

Battle Log Score:  10 / 0

The Dindrenzi dice were on fire for the first two turns.   At this point level things are so brutal.  It took the Alliance fleet to turn 4 to start to recover.   By that time the damn Dindrenzi / RSN, realizing they had inflicted heavy damage, decided to start FSDing out.     The Alliance fleet started catching up in log points but it was to much of an up hill battle and the game ended.   Just another turn and it would have been a draw.    Even with a huge number of asteroid fields on the table my son placed his ships expertly and did a number on my fleet from the very beginning of the game.

Players: Nick vs.  Justin (Both not on forum)

Points: 500

Scenario: 1 - Border Clash

Factions: Terran vs. Directorate

Battle Log: 10 to -2 (Terran Win)

It was close until the Directorate destroyers got unlucky Maneuver Tests and suffered Astero'roid Rage.  Missionary Frigates Shunting in made them pay.

Points:  1200

Scenario:  1 - Border Clash

Factions:  Terrans vs. Directorate

Battle Log:  15 to -9 (Terran win)

This was our first game testing out some of the new System Wars ships - Horizon assault cruisers for the Terrans, and an assault carrier for the Directorate.  Both battleships charged forward at top speed to engage in their optimal range bands, while my Horizon assault cruisers advanced slightly behind and hid in a gas cloud.  On turn 2 things went tragically wrong for the Directorate forces, when the NTSC Nexus (Apollo battleship) scored a lucky crit on the Anarchist that disabled their point defence.  Seeing an opportunity, my Horizon cruisers advanced out of the gas cloud and launched a boarding assault on the stricken Directorate battleship.  Their luck held, and with a massive 15 successes remaining managed to board and capture the anarchist!

The Directorate admiral is being held as a guest of the NTSC while we arrange a swap for my Ares carrier, lost some weeks back.

Players: Dan SG-19 vs. Simon (not on the forums)

Points: 2000

Scenario: 2 - Escalating Engagement

Factions: Terrans and Aquans vs. Dindrenzi.

Battle Log: Terrans and Aquans 19, Dindrenzi 1.

Another brutal slug fest, and this time the Dindrenzi could actually hit some of my ships. Though the Terran cruisers and frigates took a mauling, they held on while the Malu, Valkyrie and Aquaria (Dagon Battle Carrier) mulched the Dindrenzi right flank.

Points: 800

Scenario: Border Clash

Factions: RSN vs Terrans

Battle Log: RSN 10 - Terrans -4

Terran Battleship had it's shields disabled for two turns, which spelt it's fate. His dice were not doing well for him in the begining of the game, Allowing me to cripple his battleship and cruiser squadron early on.

Players: Allegro / Vechio
Points Value: 1000
Scenario: Border Clash
Factions & Allies: Relthoza / Sorylians
Battle Log Scores: 1 / 4

Two draws in two days. I should have won the first game against Aquans but after very good push I made some mistakes that cost me game. I was defending my station with such a superior force (by look) that my opponent decide not to board it, but kill it instead. He hide his army in gas cloud and I went to hunt him down. I killed his cruisers and frigates, but he end up with superior force punishing my mistakes and enjoying that 5+ and 6+ to hit benefit and interceptor bubble. I was really frustrated at the end of the game, with my scenario station being killed by pushing into asteroids and my Battlestation sitting cloaked. Result left lot to be desired for me.

Second game was fair fight. We brawl a lot, Sorylians shunted from reserves behind me with 2 squads and pushed hard my squadrons (killed two) and trying to board resulting in 1 dmg or nothing. My respond was mine spam behind me which killed frigate squadron. Simultaneously my corrosive markers (5) tear Falx into pieces! I escaped with remaining squadrons to maintain win. Lost battleship during process which result in draw.

In both games I played admiral with our commander training. In first game he did nothing (1 dmg from corrosive) in second game, he tore 3 HP from Falx, very nice. In second game Sorylian admiral played his commander too and he is monster! Very nice addition to game for lizard race. But commanders seems to be fairly balanced to me. It hurts a lot to have less free TAC cards and other penalties.

Players: Kurgan / Firstflash
Points Value: 800
Scenario: 4 - Hold the Waypoint
Factions & Allies: Works Raptor / Terrans
Battle Log Scores: 10 / 2 (WR win)

First four turns pretty much nothing happened as Terrans tried to close and WR were prolonging the inevitable close fight. I was rolling very very bad and torps managed to do pretty much nothing for the whole game. Turn 4 saw some first real damage as Tyrant closed with my fleet and critted one Interdictor to suffer 3 hits in return. Turn 5 turned into a bloodbath as Tyrant aggresively closed and maimed both Nullifiers which tried to run failed and received more damage from Ares his Teutons. As a result WR admiral got pissed off at his useless fleet and went for it with Attrition against the Tyrant and Ares with two Teutons. He inspared by example apparently because his bomber squadron double critted Tyrant and scored Security in Disarray. Attrition itself then fired at Ares and double critted it too. His torps also found the last Armsmen and finidhed him off. With both ships burning admiral dispatched boarding party to Tyrant and captured the vessel. They only managed to escort the captured admiral when Tyrant was blown to pieces by Teuton squadron. Interdictors saw their admiral's heroic act and finally went to do business, closed with Ares squadron and damaged Ares, triple critted one accompanying Teuton and then finally hit with their torps the Teuton squadron. Terran attack was completely shattered at this point and they lost their waypoint to contesting Tyrannies. Turn 6 saw one Interdictor and Nullifier destroyed but then Ares with his Teuton were cleaned from the table and Teuton squadron reduced to 2.

I bought Corrosive torps for every ship spending 70 points on that...to put 2 corrosive markers...

Players: FragEmAll vs Ryan
Points: 1000
Scenario: Border Clash
Factions: Sorylian vs Terran
Battle Log: 15 to -7 (Major Sorylian Victory!)

Sorylian Force
Dreadnought
4 x Cruiser
4 x Cruiser
5 x Frigate
5 x Corvette

Terran Force
2 x Battlecruiser
Carrier + 2 escorts
3 x Cruiser
3 x Cruiser
4 x Light Cruiser (I refuse to call those beasts frigates!!!)
4 x Light Cruiser (I mean....HOW MANY GUNS?!?!?!?!?!)

A cunningly disguised flanking deployment (Courtesy of my corvettes) left one of his cruisers out of the fight. We both had a frigate squadron in reserve. Mine turned up in turn 3. his didn't arrive until turn 4. His Battlecruisers were viciously singled out and terminated by turn 2. My corvettes survived an endless barrage of nuclear torpedoes. their point defence gunners are to receive the highest posthumous awards that the Collective can grant. Their pilots have been posthumously court-martialled for letting an enemy light cruiser squadron get behind them (DR2/CR4 vs Loadsa Terran guns = game over)

My Dreadnought survived on 1 hull point and one of my cruiser squadrons was down to 1 model. Ryan paid for spreading out his firepower. The end of turn 6 saw only 2 Terran light cruisers on the table vs the Sorylian Dreadnought, 4 cruisers and 3 Frigates.

I will finish by saying that I had rather improbable luck on the damage tables. I managed 3 x double 1's for reactor explosions taking out the Carrier, a Battlecruiser and a cruiser. Ryan showed what a good sport he is by not flipping the table and continuing to play :D
