  1. With the 10th anniversary of Wayland Games Ltd approaching, Warcradle Studios (the publishing and manufacturing arm of Wayland) were tasked to create a brand new miniature for Wild West Exodus to celebrate this epic occasion. Never ones to shy from an opportunity, the Studio team swept into action to design something very special indeed… We present you with a brand new strategic unit for Wild West Exodus: Wayland the Smith (and Beck too, of course)! Wayland the Smith - 10th Anniversary Set Many a fireside tale includes the appearance of Wayland the Smith. Often such stories feature a desperate and lonely rider who suffers a malfunction with her Iron Horse or the machinery of a struggling mine fails and the town faces ruin. Wanting no reward, save for a silver dollar if it can be spared, this man of legend appears from the horizon and fixes the problem. Before more than a thank you can be uttered, the stoic giant is on his way again, never staying in the same place for more than a night once his work is done. Wayland is an impressively large man with a strength as formidable as the steel with which he plies his trade. Often he lends a hand along with Panday Beck, his erstwhile assistant, who is seldom far from his side. What the fates have in store for Wayland as he roams the Frontier, who can say? Certainly, while Wayland doesn’t go looking for trouble, his journey has taken him to some of the highest and lowest of company. Even the alien Watchers and scheming Hex and Order have had reason to be thankful for his intervention and assistance. Quite how this mysterious wanderer can aid such wildly differing factions is but one further mystery that adds to his legend. Wayland the Smith - 10th Anniversary Set contains two multi-part resin miniatures: 1x Wayland the Smith 1x Beck 2x Bases. Please note: Miniatures are supplied unpainted and some assembly will be required. Character Unit Cards are not included and can be found on the Wild West Exodus website. Price: £20.00 Are you a retailer or distributor interested in the Wayland the Smith - 10th Anniversary Set amongst other Wild West Exodus products? 2. Some men and women earn their own legends and, in this month's releases for Wild West Exodus, this statement has never been truer. 'Wild’ Bill Hickok, the charming storyteller extraordinaire, is now available with the rest of his Ranger Showboat Posse! Like so many of his ilk, Hickok fell into the role of Lawman without intending to, becoming a true Ranger and master of the rifle and pistols. Over his years out west, Hickok has taken others under his wing, training them in the arts of wilderness living and tracking - find Grace Myrtle, and all those who form his legendary Ranger Showboat, on pre-order today. Countess Augusta Byron barely needs an introduction, her towering and memorable presence overshadows us all. Even amongst her fellow Enlightened Peers, the Countess is looked upon with a peculiar blend of awe and fear, having improved herself to such a length that no-one can recall how she once looked. The Countess and her fearless army of Creations can be found in the new Galvanic Mysteries Posse Box. Alongside these brand new posse boxes for Lawmen and Enlightened factions, we also have the Weylyn Spirit Walkers for the Warrior Nation - these wolf-kin are sure to sow dread and terror in the hearts of their enemies! Are you building your own Red Oak town for your tabletop? Make sure to get your very own Red Oak Saloon! After all, where else are you going to find a place to conduct dodgy deals and grab a drink (or three)? All of this month's pre-orders are released on September 29th - make sure to pre-order from us, or your FLGS, to stay current with Wild West Exodus. As always, make sure to check the whole of this months pre-orders so you don't miss out on any of our new Wild West Exodus products. GALVANIC MYSTERIES POSSE One could be forgiven for taking Countess Augusta Byron’s perpetual air of melancholy as a symptom of her upbringing. After all, when one is raised around some of the most emotive and creative minds of their time, it is surely impossible not to absorb some of that need to create. All artists crave the perfect result, whether it be a musical composition that can reduce men to tears, or a painting so beautiful that not a single soul can step past without pausing to enjoy its beauty. The Augusta’s canvas is infinitely more complex. Her magnum opus is herself. If she shows an interest in a particular individual’s face or admires the length of their legs, that person is likely to witness firsthand her inconceivable feats of fleshcrafting. The Countess has improved upon her own person over the years until nobody – herself included – can even recall how she once looked. Presently, Augusta towers above the average woman, at seven feet in height, and although it could be argued that her entire body is nothing more than a patchwork, a mish-mash of disparate parts, it cannot be denied that the whole is striking and certainly memorable. The New York Tribune recently published an article cautioning the use of advanced technology as it may “corrupt the moral fibre of our society.” Should the experiments conducted by Countess Augusta Byron be made common knowledge there would surely be an outcry amongst those of a sensitive and civilised disposition. Even amongst her fellow Enlightened Peers, the Countess is looked upon with a peculiar blend of awe and fear. A pioneer in galvanism, the Countess often applies that peculiar science into forming reanimated Creations - a blend of flesh, steel and lightning that creates a creature many times greater than the sum of its parts. The Countess has been know to cosset her ‘children’, always seeking new and better methods for improving them and granting them longevity. With such a fearless army at her command and with the capacity to make as many as needed, she is a force to be reckoned with. The Galvanic Mysteries Posse contains five multi-part resin miniatures 1x Augusta Byron 1x Mantis 1x Creation V 1x Creation X 1x Creation XIII 5x Bases 9x Unit Information & Character Unit Cards Please note: Miniatures are supplied unpainted and some assembly will be required. Character Unit Cards are included and can also be found on the Wild West Exodus website. Price: £35 RANGER SHOWBOAT POSSE Some men earn their legends. Others contribute to the legends of others. Some, like the Marshal known as ‘Wild’ Bill Hickok simply make their own legends up and recount them for anybody who will spare the time to listen. Hickok is a charmer; a storyteller extraordinaire and a man well versed in what the renowned showman P T Barnum would call ‘the noble art of humbug’. He knows well the magic a good yarn can bring to others, having spent some considerable time with a travelling show in his younger years. His marksmanship skills were as sharp then as they are now and many a contented visitor would leave the show that night swearing that they truly had seen the greatest gunman on Earth. For all his dramatic tendencies and his overblown, often hugely exaggerated tales, Hickok is a canny, shrewd soul. Like so many of his ilk, he fell into the role of Lawman without intending to. When he first came out west, he did so with the intention of setting up a travelling show of his own, perhaps bringing entertainment to what he perceived as the poverty-stricken settlers of the frontier. Instead of the struggling little shanty towns he envisioned, he found flourishing settlements, rich with prospects, loaded with opportunity and marred by those who operated outside the law. Along with his friend and fellow former showman, Bill Cody, he excelled in the field of scouting and reconnaissance. As a young ranger, he discovered a love for this unexpected new career and when Cody headed back east, Hickok remained, eager to keep his skills as one of the newly-named Rangers sharp and focused. He grew strong and powerful, mastering the use of a rifle as well as his pistols. As the years passed, Hickok took others under his wing, training them in the arts of wilderness living and tracking. One young woman in particular – Grace Myrtle – has grown to be every bit his equal in skill and is in possession of a personality as big as his own. They have become confidantes, even good friends and he values her opinion more than he’d ever openly admitted. The stories of his own greatness that he told in his youth have long been forgotten, replaced with stories that are every bit as true as he tells them… mostly, anyway. Alongside Myrtle, Hickok continues to thrill his allies and enemies in equal measure bringing justice to those that need it most. Often Bill will find his paths cross with the mercenary Copelie Sisters, the dutiful Nate Berenger and the drunken but dependable Calamity Jane and together they form Bill’s legendary Ranger Showboat. Even with a job to do, Hickok is still fond of exaggerating and as long as he has a glass of whisky, a comfortable seat and a willing audience, he will still wheel out the showman of old and entertain a crowd with the wild tales of Wild Bill. The Ranger Showboat Posse contains six multi-part resin miniatures 1x Wild Bill Hickok 1x Grace Myrtle 1x Nate Berenger 1x Calamity Jane 1x Missy Copelie 1x Rebecca Copelie 6x Bases 9x Unit Information & Character Unit Cards Please note: Miniatures are supplied unpainted and some assembly will be required. Character Unit Cards are not included and can be found on the Wild West Exodus website. Price: £35 RED OAK SALOON SCENERY KIT No town in the Frontier is complete without a Saloon. More than just a place to grab a drink or rest your heels for a few hours, a saloon is a place where dodgy deals and even dodgier dealers can be found in ample supply. This Wild West Exodus Scenery kit contains: 1x Red Oak Saloon Building Assembly Instructions Please note: Scenery items are manufactured in Medium Density Fibre Board (MDF). Buildings are supplied primed and some assembly will be required. Price: £30 WEYLYN SPIRIT WALKERS Weylyn Spirit Walkers are brave men and women of the Warrior Nation who are able to connect with their guiding animal spirit, in this case, that of a wolf, and imbue their form with aspects of that noble beast. The Weylyn Spirit Walkers kit contains two multi-part resin miniatures 2x Weylyn Spirit Walkers 2x Bases Please note: Miniatures are supplied unpainted and some assembly will be required. 11. Author’s note: Whilst this vignette is set very firmly in the fictional world of Wild West Exodus, it is nonetheless loosely based on a real local Tombstone story. You’d do yourselves a favour if you go read up on Nellie Cashman and just what she accomplished in her lifetime, too. Doc Holliday has a secret addiction. A problem, even. Now, that seems very likely, given how quickly he has worked his way down the bottle of bourbon sitting on the table in front of him. Although you’d be forgiven for guessing alcohol as your answer, you’ll not hit the mark on this occasion. Try again. Maybe it’s tobacco, you might think. Well, again, close. But – and you’ll forgive, I’m sure, the pun – no cigar. Gambling. Gambling is his big weakness. It’s obvious now that you think of it. This irascible man is often at the tables until the small hours, staking everything he owns on the turn of a card. Yes. That’s it. Poker, Faro, Blackjack – there it is. Doc Holliday’s vice is gambling. Alright. Doc Holliday has a number of vices, but let me draw your attention to one of the more unlikely ones. There it is, right there his hands. A slightly dogeared book, tatty at the corners and obviously much-loved. A slim volume, with an artist’s rendition of a man in a long, black overcoat on its cover. Look more closely at the way the hat is tipped over the eyes, the way the artist has captured the curling of smoke from the ends of the pistols. The title of the book was once bright yellow, but time has faded it to a more subtle shade. From this angle, it’s impossible to make out the full title, but “Adventures”, “Stormin’” and “Lawman” are definitely in there. And this is one of two unfathomable truths. Doc Holliday is addicted to dime store novels. The trashier the better. A bizarre anomaly in such an educated man, but it is what it is. (You are, of course, correct about the alcohol, the tobacco and the gambling, but nigh on everyone in Tombstone has those issues. You get no prizes for those guesses). The final addiction isn’t even something he can ever hope to control. No, that is something intangible, but is still very evident. Wherever John Henry Holliday goes, trouble rides in a step or two behind him. Today, the deputy is having one of his better, more peaceable days. Lately, things have been uncomfortable in the more popular establishments in town. The taxidermy that is on display in Hafford’s has started to give him nightmares, the presence of the cowboys at the Grand Hotel have made that a no-go zone (but only because Wyatt said so – Doc is more than up for facing them down if they make trouble). And then, of course, the ongoing disagreements he has with the bartenders at both the Oriental and Crystal Palace Saloons mean that even what is widely acknowledged as the most dangerous corner in Tombstone isn’t an option. Just once. I tried to shoot him once and he won’t let me forget it. A flicker of guilt at his appalling behaviour when he was drunk and out of control right before… well, about eight months ago. When he lost his temper and lashed out in rage. Doc’s temper ebbs and flows as predictably as the tides. These days, he has a better handle on it, but there is still the air of a hunted animal about him. A man ready to spring into action at the click of a pistol hammer. But since his illness all but killed him… Since he has been forced to wear that curious face mask just to give his tortured lungs a rest… Well, much of his former affability has been replaced by a cynicism that is hard to reconcile with a man so young. He is still pleasant, still friendly, but there is an edge to him now. He has always chosen to sit facing the door – as so many gambling men often do – but now he always takes a corner seat as well. Not for Doc Holliday the sneaky knife between the shoulder blades. If he died, why, Wyatt Earp would never shut up about it. His choice of restaurant today is something far simpler than the grandiose places touting their wares on Allen Street. He has retreated to Nellie Cashman’s place. Russ House, out on South Street is a homely sort of eatery, but right now, that is just what the man needs. He is tired after a sleepless night and he is a little irritable to boot. Nellie’s good, solid cooking is a tiny taste of home. And more than anything, he adores that she always, always keeps a can of tinned peaches for him. If there is anything more Georgian than peaches, well, he’d thank you to tell him what it is. As far as Doc Holliday is concerned, Nellie is an angel. Yes, Nellie is a good girl; one of the best. More strength in her spine than most men he knows, more than capable of standing up for herself and well-liked by all who know her. She is the kind of woman who could quite easily lead a revolution if given half the chance. Doc is extraordinarily fond of her, but she never stands for his flirtations. Doc has been well-behaved for days, now. Not one altercation, not one argument, hell, not even raising his voice more than half a decibel above normal. This is not a natural state of affairs for the tempestuous deputy. Something has got to give and it’s got to give soon. In about four minutes, in fact. He is scooping up what remains of his peaches and cream and experiencing the pleasant buzz that comes with finishing the better part of half a bottle of good bourbon when he overhears the Texan at the table next to him. “That weren’t no beef stew. Ain’t got no idea what the hell meat that was meant to be, but damn if it weren’t an insult to whatever animal it came from.” In order to appreciate what ensues in the wake of this ill-considered review of Nellie Cashman’s cooking, it is important to consider the following factors. Doc Holliday has lived in this town long enough to consider it home. He holds Nellie very dear to his heart, because she is nice to him. He is more than a little drunk right now, he considers the Texan an intruder on his territory, he has a hair-trigger temper and he is, with very good reason, considered one of the fastest draws in the West. Like a stretched thread, his self-control is pulled too hard. Finally, the tension cannot cope. The thread snaps. There is the distinct hum of a Juiced pistol as it begins its power cycle. The Texan hears it very clearly because he has gone, in the blink of an eye, from being an ungrateful, vociferous complainant to being a man with a ridiculously powerful weapon held right up against his temple. He swallows. He looks up into the steel trap stare of Doc Holliday’s thin face which is pinched in an expression of extreme dissatisfaction. “What did you say, sir? I did not quite catch that. Louder, if you would be so kind.” The Texan considers his immediate life choices. “Why, that’s the best cookin’ I ever had?” There is an anxious pause as the deputy considers the unfortunate and bad-mannered diner. The rise in his voice at the end, the inflection that turned a statement into a question, almost results in the permanent estrangement of the Texan’s head and body, but it’s good enough. Doc backs down and the pistol is back in its holster before the Texan has even blinked. He never even saw the reed-thin figure move. Doc turns away, picking up his book and the remainder of his bottle of bourbon. He fixes his respirator back in place and tosses his money down on the table, Tipping his hat courteously to Miss Nellie, he departs with the self-satisfied air of a man who feels that he has achieved something good today. 14. Here's a quick step by step on how I painted the awesome new Wild West Exodus terrain! To kick off, I undercoated the model black. No photo here (who needs a photo of a black building, after all). STEP ONE Build up 3D effects with grey. I use an airbrush but you can get very similar effects using a spray can. If you're using a brush, get a big ol' one inch round and stipple on the paint in thin layers. STEP TWO To increase the 3D effects, once again, I go in with white. STEP THREE Glaze the entire model with a Sepia Wash (approximately 7 parts water to 1 part paint). I repeat this three times for a deep colour shift. I am still using the airbrush here but, if you do not have access to one, you can purchase weathering sprays which achieve a similar effect or go in with that big ol' brush - just don't let the glaze pool up. STEP 4 Grab a decent sized brush and pick out individual planks with a selection of different brown washes. For this model, I used a red-brown, yellow-brown, dark brown and black brown. I tend to make my own washes from P3 paint but there are loads of great alternatives out there. Once again, don't let the wash pool up. STEP 5 Pick out the metallic areas. Take your time as it's very difficult to clean off slips. All metallic areas were painted in P3 Pig Iron. The Brass areas were painted in P3 Brass Balls. YOU'RE ALL FINISHED These should look great on the table top for now! I'll be looking at how to take things to the next level with weathering and detailing next time. Until then - happy paintin'! You can find all of the Red Oak terrain on our online store here, or from your regular FLGS or online stockist! View the full article

A booming industry in the Union frontier, it is highly lucrative being able to supply the good folk of the West a steady supply of hooch, rocket fuel and other more medicinal libations. A sturdy fence, barrel or crate serves several purposes out on the frontier. The most obvious is to secure property and assist with the transport of goods. For gunslingers and civilians alike, they also make superb cover which they can run between when the bullets start to fly! Not every home in the Union is a mighty Promethean Complex, mansion or townhouse. Most of the folk who live out in the settlements make shelters out of whatever materials they can find. These rickety shacks, while commonplace are usually temporary and you often see wagons nearby ready to be hitched up when the resident decides its time to move on. Angry Mobs are useful strategic units in Wild West Exodus. Combining the ability to deal a surprising amount of damage with the ability to disrupt your enemies plans as they draw attention to themselves. Uncaring governments, interfering lawmen, mysterious mutilations in the middle of the night... There's a lot to get angry about in the Dystopian Age! This product contains 4x Angry Civilian Miniatures 3x Bases. BASES We have released four new base topper sets, to give your miniatures the bases they deserve! The Red Oak Large Base Topper Set & Scatter Terrain contains: 1x Large Round base insert 1x Barrel Scatter Terrain. The Red Oak Medium Base Topper Set contains: 3x Medium base inserts. Henry Courtwright is a master saboteur and Automata specialist and Agent Lucinda Loveless is a legend in the Service having saved the Union from insidious foreign plots on several occasions. Camilla Blanche is an expert in clandestine infiltration and assassination while Milo Jefferson makes up for his relative inexperience in the field with his specialist knowledge of artillery and armour weak-points. Look out for the Secret Service - sneaking up on you... soon! Felipe Espinosa is one of the most ruthless and treacherous bandits to curse the American frontier. Leading the twisted mariachi band 'The Bloody Espinosas' Felipe has a dreaded reputation as a bounty hunter and raider. The music played by this family of liars and cutthroats is terrifyingly jarring as it accompanies them while they go about their bloody butchery. The hard-faced Jose and scarred Luccia Espinosa are never too far from their murderous older brother while the youngest, Pedro, is content to amuse himself by playing a tune and adding to his collection of trophies cut from his victims. Vivian Espinosa was once like his brothers but found true love with the beautiful Sofia Antoniela. Wanting to leave the blighted band for a new life, a fight with his brother Jose mortally wounded him. As he lay dying, his tainted soul transformed him into a drooling Hex Beast. His wife, Sofia, could not be parted from him even in this new form and nursed a shred of his former personality from the hulk of flesh and pain he had become. Now the six are united in a song of murder and mayhem that will only end in death... View the full article
