It's likely the classic Firestorm is still played in various clubs and in peoples homes.  But like all games that are no longer in active production, its natural for it to become a rarer game on the tabletop.   For those that still play the Classic Firestorm Game, we have the Warcradle Classic miniatures to help complete your collections.
There is a brand new game called Firestorm Armada in development. It is a new game that we hope appeals to many fans of science fiction space battles. Knowledge of or experience of the Classic Firestorm is completely unnecessary. If you have classic models you will, of course, be able to use them as a 'counts as' in the new Firestorm Armada,  but there will be an entire range of new and exciting miniatures to enjoy!

It will be 3 years at the end of 2020. I know it seems like forever. And of course we'd like to have had all the games out sooner but, we were clear we didn't want to rush.  The beta will be announced quite soon and we hope you can become enthused about it. The same free rulebook offer will happen for FSA as it has for both WWX and DW.

This seems to be a common comment. Existing fans are irked that the miniatures they have purchased in significant quantities are not selling now.
Could I suggest that a good reason is that the models are classics and designed for a game that is now largely only played by people that own significant fleets etc already? We only ever intended the classics range to be a customer service offering to the existing community. A way to give continuity to your collections and allow you to complete or fill or certain selections. The same is true for WWX.
It is regrettable that the Classics offerings have not sold especially well compared to main range releases or to community expectation, but considering the time elapsed since the classic game was in production it is less surprising.  The important part was that miniatures have made it into to the hands of fans that would otherwise have to rely on third partirs such as eBay or Facebook selling pages.
On the subject of things we find especially irksome, for me it is that Warcradle is being accused of blaming the community for anything.
While it's true that there have been a handful of toxic individuals who have had to be taken in hand,  they are certainly not reflective of the amazing community that supports the games we make.
Regarding those individuals,  I do not think aeshva you are one of them, I realise it is comforting for those feeling isolated and embittered to cling to the general community and delude themselves that they are in the same mental space and that their personal views represent a groundswell of opinion. It is perfectly natural to do so. But we have a responsibility to keep the community spaces we look after safe from such self-destructive people.

This is becoming a bit of a... volatile situation. Both parties want Warcradle to succeed, but the same situation looks real different from the two different perspectives.
Warcradle is doing it’s best to make a game able to support itself, and I can understand why they are trying to play it as safe as possible: they are trying to avoid every misstep Spartan has made (even if it means avoiding some great steps along the way). They are also relying on the same facilities for creating the new Dystopian Wars models, and we all know how critical a launch can be for a game. If the stocks are low, it can spell doom for a system no matter how good. I think patience is still something that Warcradle can ask for, and it is for the good of both of FSA’s and DW’s future. Richard has stated (multiple times?) on facebook (more on that later), that the announcement will happen if everything is ready and not before, because they want to avoid an unsuccessful launch.
The fans on the other hand are waiting, and to be honest, this close to the release the amount of fanfare is significantly smaller than it was when the IP was acquired. Without insider insight we are free to interpret this however we like, and it is easy to expect the worst (such is human nature), and become impatient. Most of the people interested in this thread are also trying to support the company with their wallets, and even though most can understand the causes behind a delayed delivery, there were plenty “IOU”s under the Christmas tree this year, and it can make people bitter and disappointed (even though I know we shouldn’t forget that the existence of the classics range is something to be celebrated, I won’t be less disheartened by this).
Another sad fact is that these forums are not the forefront for communication, and even if facebook is reaching a wider audience, this platform is still the official platform for everything Warcradle, and neglecting it is probably not the best thing Warcradle can do.
In my personal opinion the same patience and understanding is necessary from Warcradle’s part as well, and as everyone is getting more impatient, measures harsher than necessary can create backlashes everyone wants to avoid. I know, we cannot realistically expect Warcradle Richard to make weekly reports of the development or when a new batch of KoB escorts is coming, but something that is not a PR sculpted newsletter would make most people more content.
And lastly a strictly personal opinion, that might sound controversial, but I have no intent to start a flamewar, so if it is too much, feel free to ignore this. The new DW is not going to make everyone happy, and nor we nor Warcradle should act like it will. Probably the intent was more sugarcoated than it should have been. I personally don’t blame Warcradle for this (who would want to alienate every old fan of the IP from the getgo?), but it’s happening with DW, and it will happen with FSA. Nobody owes the other party anything. We can ask, we can give our honest feedback, and in the end we can vote with our wallet. I’m not happy about this, but that won’t change anything. When (and if) the FSA beta comes, I’ll make sure to give as much feedback as humanly possible (as that system was and is closer to my heart), but for me the DW ship of old times has sailed (And with this marvellous pun, I’ll see myself out).

No, no harm in doing it.  As the developer of the Firestorm Fleet Manager, I've sunk plenty of time into trying to help the game along.    I personally wouldn't spend much time on the old system, but you are of course free to update as you see fit.  I just don't think there is much demand for it, other than for completeness' sake.

    Hi @Paraxanthine.
I think an update to the wiki is a good idea...just not quite yet.  Until we have a beta draft of the new Firestorm in hand, we won't know the scope of changes to the game.  Anything you update to the wiki has a good chance of needing to be changed again (maybe drastically) when the new edition hits.  We have very little known about the future at this point, so I'd take a wait and see approach before diving into the wiki.

Anyone in or around Indianapolis, Indiana still have a Firestorm Armada fleet?  Once the beta drops I'm planning to have bi-weekly games to contribute.

To clarify on the Spartan models not counting as WC Firestorm models, Stuart was referring to the pricing.  The prices shown for the Firestorm classics should not be taken as an indicator of what price range the new models will be set at.   Which to me makes sense, in that the classics are limited short runs.

I've had Ryushi on order since December...so yeah, it's not part of the standard production.  To their credit, Wayland has also contacted me to see if I want a refund.  I'm okay to wait, but once the FSA beta hits the street, I'm going to want models on the table.

We will make some announcements soon. We have about 10 Creatives in the Studio at the moment, not including management, and we are about to recruit  7 more roles about to be announced tomorrow.

There will be Firestorm yes. Rather than put up the near 500 in this batch the guys will start uploading the products sometime today. There should be more products most days leading up to Xmas now

And locally, we're just the opposite.  The guys in the local wargame group don't really care about the fluff and background of the races.  The gameplay trumps the fluff every time...there is just little interest in getting into the history of why the Dindrenzi and Terrans go at each other, etc.
Two different approaches to the game, it's not a bad thing.  I won't mind having more lore and history, but it's not at the top of our wish list here.

    A couple of things:
The Firestorm Universe is not going to be a Cold War. If you have an entire galaxy to wage war across, with vast distances of time and space separating the various combatants you can have multiple belligerents actively battling each other in full-scale war while still having the breathing room to explore, exploit and expand.
Let's not get too hung up on notions of 'The Directorate are going to be turned into X or Y.'  We haven't announced any factions yet or even if there will be a Directorate at all (just kidding... maybe). Just lots of lovely speculation from the community. I'm certainly in the camp of being excited about the possibilities rather than worried about what might get thrown out with the bath water.

The dindrenzi aren't actually that bitter about their planet, its just every time Terran Intelligence asks 'Why is this happening?' The whole faction points at an overtaxed and subjugated husk of a planet and thinks 'REMEMBER?!'
