  1. Can I just say how awesome that looks! An Eiffel Tower is now a must for all Vaubans. Great job lordVigo
  2. Well the Daedalus isn't "bad" but it isn't great either in my opinion. It comes down to the fact that you can take 2 Icarus for a small points increase and they are great, they are much more flexible and pack more of a punch then a Daedalus (granted not at long range, but that rarely plays for long). Hopefully they will balance this out with the update to the CoA forces. On that note, will the Fleet guide in the box be a new one?
  3. I wasn't trying to be difficult, I just wanted to answer your post directly as you asked a question. I'm sorry if it came across as argumentative, that was not my intention. I see what you are getting at and it's a valid point you and Ater raised. From my point of view I find it unnecessary, but others may find it it is. Different strokes for different folks. I was mainly asking why you thought they would lose character as I don't view where you measure from as character, but maybe you do?
  4. I'm with Ater, very cool stuff indeed! So Target Painter, Mine Controller Generator confirmed and most likely a Shield Generator, cos that's our thing. I can't wait to get my hands on the new goodies!
  5. For what?... For a system that doesn't make unnecessary distinctions where none need to be. Weapons will always be different, affected by different rules and MARs. I don't see how where you measure from will make weapons lose character. It may not be difficult, but is unnecessary. Perhaps you can explain why you think this will make them lose character?
  6. A contradiction if ever a saw one As for the rules. Yes they work well on the whole, but that does not mean you shouldn't streamline them or make them more complicated then they need to be. As we are talking about weapon firing points, they should have a standard point they fire from, whatever you decide on, because it is unnecessary to make distinctions when in has little to no effect on the game overall, and adds nothing to it.
  7. I would like to see a Camouflage Generator on it. I would like that to be an upgrade option for Dreadnoughts and Battleships so you would have a choice between that and Target Painter. This is mainly from a fluff point of view as we are supposed to have them, but they don't have any models with them. That would also include Sonic Generators for land ships. I agree that what ever it has, should be reliable unlike Fresnels and TDOs. While people do use these pieces, I don't very often as I like to have my models do what they should do without a die roll to see if it can. That is especially apt for TDOs, as it does nothing else. I have thought about such things. But if we say we should have the best of anything that comes out of the vault, then that wouldn't leave much for other Nations
  8. Having played a few games now, I am happy that they are getting a buff. I tried Energy Turrets for 2 games and I was really underwhelmed by them. My personal view is they should at least match the firepower they would get at RB 3 for normal turrets, as anything less is just not worth it. With lower values then normal turrets, redoubtable is a must, otherwise they will always under perform up close. So, I'm liking the changes you are suggesting. And who knows, before long I'll be breaking out the Energy Weapons again
  9. Not anytime before September at the earliest, based on what is available for pre-order already.
  10. I'm hoping for this as well. It would be nice to have the ships do what the Covenant should do, hit before you can reach them and be a real pain in the @** The Euclid looks so freakin awesome! I was going to get another Epicurus, but I think I'll wait now
  11. Very cool additions. I'm loving the Capek, similar to the Epicurus (One of my favourite models) but with a more "flying saucer" look. The Pytheus and Ptolemy are our weak link in the Air, so I'm hoping these can remedy that. That and a revision of those models, which I hope will come with the new edition
  12. Thanks all. I'm going to pick up an Epicurus (Darn, those models are so cool! ) I also managed to pick up another starter and a Prometheus for £20, so with an Epicurus on top I should have the makings of a good fleet off the bat. So, what would you take in a 1000 point game with what I have (and a Epicurus)?
  13. Thanks Guys. I bought the Covenant battle group in the end, mainly for the fact they have freaken laser weapons and when it came down to it I just couldn't resist the ships. So the next question is; what do you recommend as initial purchases after the battle group? I'm a bit poor at the moment after spending a load of my cash on a kickstarter. I'm just looking to add what you consider key/best units for the covenant in sea or air. Feel free to put anything you think make useful additions, but maybe in a list of what you consider most important to least. I'll get most of the models in time, but my local gaming group has begun a starter campaign (for most of us this will be our first time using our fleets) that will run for a while. So, I'm looking to focus my cash into solid additions for now and go crazy later when my finances recover. Many thanks, Sevrance
  14. So, as the title suggests, I'm new to the game. So new, I know very little about the game and the fleets. A few people in my gaming club have decided to take the game up and run some introductory games. I'm toying between the Covenant and Prussians just from the way they look. Could people explain what the strengths and weaknesses of the Prussians are so I can get the fleet that most suits how I want to play. The more information, the better! Thanks in advance.
