    Spartan Guys, I have Supported you Hard on the Forums, in the stores and with my money. But you are making this so tough. At any point during those 9 years of development you could have mentioned this to the community, started some interest, gotten some feedback. But instead secret x-wing game created in the vacuum. 
    I have no doubt the sculpts will be great. I have no doubt the game will be fun. But Please help me out, listen to the community and Communicate.

    Thanks @Bessemer it was a real spur of the moment idea that gave me the Blue-Purple Destroyers. Then I went out of the box to challenge myself with a different blend on each ship type. 
    Thanks @Skyhawk , sorry the Terrans went on hold again because I got struck with the motivation to start and finish Project "Super Special Mod". I will do a colour test on my Terran's next. 
    So Project "Super Special Mod" was conceived over a year ago. With the Lack of a Corsair Racketeer Battlecarrier model I conceived my own. The whole idea was put on hold. When the pictures came out for the Spartan model, I was disappointed. I know some people love it, that's great, but I don't. So the idea surfaced again. 
    The Basic idea, take these 2 ships

    It is the only Mod/conversion that I have done for FSA. I don't know exactly why I got the inspiration to rush it through, but it was a fun and rewarding project. Also, yes I will be doing the other one as a second T1. Admiral De Veenboer has his ship, Admiral Danseker will need his. More on them later.

    So with the new Corsair models coming I've been looking at expanding my OmniDyne with Corsairs for a tourney in June. How does this look to people? Lots of Cyber seems like a good reason to go boarding heavy.

    OmniDyne stuff sits back and Cybers stuff with the Racketeer lurking, providing cover with Interceptors and lobbing torps over. Then when the time is right bring in the Brigands to blast, board, and probably die in fiery glory, with the Racketeer closing in and boarding with Assault Shuttles too.

    Here is something I have for our early stage concepts on the Hawker.
    There have been quite a few revisions since then....the weapon systems have changed on the Large....we aren't using the APC just now..... the Mobile Gun Platform is testing as being a bit bigger.....but the Small Tank and the Medium Tank are finished!....you get the idea though.

     
    My noble Terrans are going to love these guys!

    You're missing out on a beast. CR12 with the 9HP upgrade isn't going down quickly to anything, and it's got 2 shields base anyways. Seems like a weird thing to get tunnel vision for.

    Greetings, all!
     
    After a lengthy absence from the Spartan stables, I've returned to have a go at Firestorm Armada. You'll have to decide yourselves if my return was worthwhile. 
    I originally got into Spartan's range of miniatures via Uncharted Seas (may it rest in peace), but I was playing starship-based games long before that, so F.A. wasn't a big leap. With a local group gearing up for a Tournament, and I needing a regular opportunity to throw dice and shout "Pew! Pew!" following a lengthy battle with cancer, I grabbed a Rense Patrol Fleet Box, and proceeded to do things to it...

     
    Such as add fins from thin styrene sheet...
     

     
     
    ... and turrets from old Space Cruiser Yamato 'Mecha Collection' kits. Which let to the first of my ships looking like this:
     

     
     
    Quite pleased with this more 'anime' look, I got on with shooting some paint on to the Battlewagon and the cruisers...
     

     
    Simple enough scheme - white topsides and duck-egg undersides. Paints are Tamiya acrylics, shot through my trusty Iwata Revolution.
     

     
    Above, we see the ships with a few decals added. These came from a variety of Gundam decal sets, by Bandai. Great source of sci-fi letters, numbers and stencils!
     
     
     

     
    The EFS Albion in all her glory! I also printed up some 'base cards' to decorate the bases, and aid in tracking which ship is which in the heat of battle. Painting nebulae and such on bases is so last year. 
     
    And the 'Spook' class cruisers (I ask you, what kind of class name is Spook???)
     

     
     
    Well, what do you think? A worthwhile venture into the world of Firestorm? 
     
    I'm currently deciding what to do about SRS tokens. I have no love for the little half-relief thingies. I want to see flying models, dammit! Given the anime feel, I'm contemplating re-tasking some Jovian Chronicles Fleet Scale mecha for the role...
     
    More to follow, so stay tuned! Oh, and questions about technique, etc, always welcome.

    Won a game 12/-2 with my newly painted Omnidyne on Monday (none of the new models, just old ones I hadn't gotten around to painting for a few months  )
    Played with this list and won 12/-2 against a pure Ba'Kash force of a Battle Carrier, 3 Heavy Cruisers, 2 Destroyers and 9 Frigates (one 4x squadron, 1 5x squadron).
    Phorcys- Executive (Admiral)- +1 Shield; Assault Robot Torps; Torps- 215
    -SE01- Synergy- Torps- 15
    Ceto- Executive- Assault Robot Torps; 2x +3 wings
    -6x Bomber
    Stheno, Euryale & Medusa- 3x Auditor- Torps; Biohazard- 270
    SC01 to 06- 6x Synergy- Torps- 90
    SC07 to 12- 6x Synergy- Assault Robot Torps- 90
    Really pleased with the play I had with Ceto, the carrier Executive:
    -Knock out Battle Carrier's PD with Virus Strike
    -Take the initiative
    -Shunt in Ceto in a Gas Cloud, conveniently roll 'Main Drive Ignition Delay' so she starts at a full stop
    -Activate Ceto first, pass disorder test, launch bombers against the Battle Carrier, which can't do ****, and double crit it
    -Follow up with damage from the BBs fore beams, and plink a Destroyer with starboard beams for good measure
    Shunting in a carrier Executive is definitely something I want to try again, as lots of flukey dice led up to that moment- for instance, I won initiative despite my opponent having played Intel Gathered, the shunt result went alright, and I wasn't disordered by the gas cloud. But it throws a brick right into your opponents battle lines.

    These are my Rochefort class monitor, and Brest class destroyer. They were designed and built based on ottoman warships (sinop and avci)
     
    The Rochefort (Sinop) monitors are the St Malo hulls, with the magenta bridge drop on and the bombards also from the St Malo.
    The Brest destroyers are chevaliers with PLC turrets to represent the bombard, and the excess ack ack cut off the St Malo submarine deck and glued to the roof to represent the enhanced defences of the Brest (Avci) over the chevalier.
    Looking forward to getting them painted.

    For starters with only 2~3 BL at stake it is to easy to loose the main objective and still come out as the winner.
     
    I've been playtesting a scenario much like this one, and the main problem with it is that fleets with above average speed and / or weapons reach always have a big advantage.
     
    So you can't really balance it for generic “x” points fleets, you can only balance it for “fixed” forces.

    These things have probably now become my favourite Terran ships, and they were a lot of fun to paint as well.

    Definitely a bit of a departure from the normal Terran ship design, and they undeniably have some awkward angles, but overall very nice ships.

    After the little guys, I may make a start on the Aegis shield cruisers I have, and then maybe even start tackling the Tyrant at some point when I'm feeling brave.

    Just following up from Beth's post about models and pegs and movement. This movement issue falls into two categories: friendly play and tournament play. Let’s look at these one by one:
     
    Friendly Play
    The rules for movement do have some issues regarding dealing with ships bunching up. It is possible for players to effectively block their opponent’s movement. In a friendly game the vectoring rules can be used to let players deal with this issue by allowing a certain level of freedom, that can be agreed upon by both players. Some folk do this by removing models from their pegs. Whilst we would not support this action, if this is what a player wants to do in a friendly game, then go for it.
     
    Tournament Play
    This is where things can get a little trickier. At this point players tend to not want to be so flexible as to allow their opponent to nudge their ship over to make it fit. So we, as in Spartan and the FFG, are looking at the ways we can remove some of the movement ambiguities from the rules. We will make an addition to the FA 2.0 FAQ document, including diagrams, that will aid Tournament Play. We’ll follow up on the forum and add a website blog when the FAQ has been completed.

    So I ran an introduction game of Taskforce and then Armada for a friend last night using the Terran vs Dindrenzi box, with my friend playing Dindrenzi both times. In the Armada game we played, I took un-upgraded Harpoons so it was all balanced points wise. And man, given that Harpoons are Torpedo Cruisers and the Velites have low PD, the Velites were excessively brutal.
    Now I know a squadron of 2 cruisers and 2 squadrons of 3 frigates isn't standard fleet composition, but when the Velites closed in on my Harpoons (something they did very easily with 11" move), even when one Velite was on 2 HP, within 8" they were still throwing out 11 dice! Double degradation was not much of an issue. Someone using the turning template for the first time also did not have any issues lining up the Fixed guns, even with TL2.
     
    Not the best playtesting scenario to report back on, but every little helps I hope.

    EFxx, where the xx is a two digit number. Example is EF79 Adanar on pg. 121 in the book.
    Makes naming a bit odd to me, but it is the only example we have as of yet that I know of.

    With the advent of the Escort Carrier, Ryushi need an Escort Carrier, not a Destroyer. But it should be something nasty and worthy of the Heavy Cruiser slot it will take up!

    I put the finishing touches to the battleship last night. I've had a little bit of a break while I dismantled all my flight stands and re-assembled them using Hawk Widgets - much better for transportation!

    Most of the terms are familiar, but several seem to differ in their usage (PD is +x, for instance).
    At this point, I'd say that trying to translate 1:1 would be difficult.

    With regards to the Flight Template, I have a simple solution. Won't help greatly, but a little- print them double sided. Since I marked inch marks on the reverse of my templates, movement has become less of a headache.
     
    Dice pools though I don't think need that much change; I can't really think of any way to streamline the process?
