Ready to go with the statistics release.
Just have to read them over one more time...... lol....
Luckily I have you lot to be my proof readers!

I don't expect them to be perfect, as I have been frantically drawing together all the feedback data from my design team.
I'm looking forwards to getting them out there, but one more check over cant hurt.

Great thanks for the document, really looking forward to getting the full document.
I agree with the comments about Pinpoint (I had some opinions about the old implementation as well, as many will remember...).
First of all: It breaks the flow, with being one more step of dice rolling. Secondly, it is still very random, and of no use unless you can roll a lot of 6s. Instead, why not make it a completly passive ability:
Pinpoint[X]: Every time an attack causes damage to a target, reduce the DR of the next damage level by one, up to X times.
Example: 15AD PP[1] attack, against a 6/6/5 target: 11 dice hit, reducing the effective DR of the target to 6/5/4, thereby causing two levels of damage instead of one. For a less powerful version, it only works for the X first levels (so the above target would only occur a penalty to the second DR level).
That would mean that PP2 weapons are mostly effective against targets with three or more damage levels...

I'd say Derek can do decent rule sets but being nailed down to make a fully functioning set within a handful of weeks (like he was made to with PF and TF, I know) is nuts and bad management from up top, but hopefully they'll realise that rushing out sets is NOT the way forward. A good rule set takes months to do and then months to test.

His work with both Halo games has been decent and they both play very well though, but I wouldn't want FSA to head down that path as I find them slightly too simplistic (Although HGC is much better than HFB in my opinion, it's a cracking game now there is more units)
Planetfall isn't awful either, I've played much worse, and I've had some tremendous games back in the day. The rulebook itself was utterly awful but again it was rushed out with glaring errors and some rules that didn't make much sense or wasn't worded correctly. That's Derek's biggest issue IMO, in that he assumes that gamers know what to do, when in fact gamers generally need their hand holding so it leaves little room for "interpretation".

Basically, the rest of 2017 needs to happen. It's a "make or break" year for the Firestorm franchise.
Absolutely. None of us have lived any further than February 2017 at this point. Let the weeks and months develop, and let's see what happens in those weeks and months.

Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen, please allow me to introduce myself.

My name is Mike, a fresh new cog in the Spartan Games’ machinery. For several years, I have lurked in the shadowed corners of these hallowed forums, enjoying the endless font of conversation and enthusiastic debate we so passionately share for Spartan’s incredible games. Recently at the crest of the new year I was invited by Spartan Neil to be one of his developers, starting with my work on Dystopian Wars. I’ll be putting my efforts into producing new model designs and rules for the company’s games, and into the creative writing side of things – perfect timing given the raft of new models and books coming from the company during 2017 and beyond!

I wanted to introduce myself personally to you all today not just as a new designer, but also as an ear and voice of communication for you in the Forum. My passion for war gaming is tantamount to lunacy [aka a joke amongst my friends!] and taking that enthusiasm off the battlefield and into great conversations is merely an extension of my excitement that I hope to share with you all over the coming weeks and months!

A bit of background to accompany my long-winded introduction! I am a Southern California Native, hailing from the Beach cities of South Los Angeles. I have worked in the entertainment industry, helping to craft and tell stories on both the big and small screen. While my work with cinema and writing has always been a large factor in my life, a true gamer I am at heart. Playing and owning more games than I would ever like to admit! I have worked in the gaming industry, both digital and “analog” creating rules and stories for a wide range of companies that I am sure many of you have enjoyed. Now, I been given a chance to turn that enthusiasm over to you all and put all my efforts into delivering products and exciting and new content that you will hopefully all enjoy!

Working with Spartan Derek, Spartan Josh [both of them], Spartan Franco, Spartan Giles, Spartan Sam and the creative guys at Spartan Games has been most exciting since I began in December and as I integrate more and more into the processes I look forward to being able to relay exciting information with you via the Forum. I’ll be acting as a Moderator, along with my other duties, and as time moves on I am excited about creating a productive rapport with you all.

Looking forward to chatting with all of you!

    -Spartan Mike

Mmm... hm. That's a thing we've already seen since how long ago? Wasn't there supposed to be a big campaign or something? Yeah...

Mr. Linde, I am rooting for you, don't get me wrong. But in the grand scheme of things, I can't really hold much optimism, and and you can't really blame me or anyone else for feeling that way. I really do want this to be the start of a newly turned leaf; it sounds like you believe it will be. Please prove it. Please. I would love to have some enthusiasm about Firestorm again.

Here's a better pic of the fleet, taken by someone with much more photographic skill than me, while at the Firestorm Tournament at Reading Warfare last weekend.
They're significantly improved by a proper background, instead of my lounge carpet!

For some reason I forgot to put the SRS tokens out before this was taken.

I have been pushing pretty hard. I just had a week of working away so I did not get any painting done. Thankfully I got to do a bit of painting today. I did the Grey Claws and face plate on my Namisc. I also got to pick the spot for the Orange Highlight

I wouldn't mind seeing something akin to Halo Fleet Battles Firepower Rating; having the same number of AD do more or less damage, depending on various circumstances.
This is present in Planetfall in the case of Cloak, but with some minor mods it could work for cover as well (shooting at a squadron in cover could cause you to only roll blue dice, for instance).
Yes, I am aware of the can of worms that open if some parts of the squad has cover, and some not, but I'm positive that properly written assignment mechanics could resolve that.
Or go the easy route, like with infantry, and have cover give free Shield for affected elements.

I've done a similar list, apart from using Frigates instead, and while it didn't perform quite as well as yours seems to have done, it was still a good list (my Stingrays had some very bad luck with their dice...).
