  1. Possible Mistake: Checking all of the Ground attack MAR on all the Ground attack Gunships/Heavy Gunships, they read "This Squadron may fire its Main Ordnance while moving Flat Out provided the target squadron are Flying models – These shots are considered to be Rushed. " I assume this is supposed to read "This Squadron may fire its Main Ordnance while moving Flat Out provided the target squadron are Ground models – These shots are considered to be Rushed."?
  2. I'm cautiously optimistic about these changes; cheaper and more resilient ships are pretty solid. 1. Reworking the points on a few of my fleet lists, the changes have saved me 60 points in my 1k list and 80 in my 1250 list. The discount to the Fettahs is great! Now what to do with those points... 2. The GNE generator on the Sadrazam is going to be mostly used if you've got a pair of Sadrazam, or a penchant for aggressive boarding with the Fettahs. I guess this is going to be where the Traditionalists differ from the Separatists? 3.Attaching Mizraks to the Dread and battleship is going to crank those broadsides up to some respectable levels. With a 3 Mizraks, it's 22/18/13/2 on the Kanuni's broadside, and 18/15/11/6 on the Sadrazam, plus a 15/12 Volley Gun shot. You lose Sustained fire on the broadsides, but those are some good numbers regardless. Can't wait to see the differences in play between the two sides too!
  3. Lerriano, you are a gentleman and a scholar, and your sacrifice will be remembered in the new world where Ottomans may (hopefully) go toe to toe with the Chinese and win
  4. These are awesome! A few guys in my gaming group swear by them, and these are also great tools for demoing the game! I do have a bug report: The Nyx Infantry have DR 4 and should be DR 5, and the Dindrenzi Drop Site Marker is set to 5, not 4
  5. I'm honestly not surprised at the lull in Dystopian Wars: Spartan Games is a small company and produce more games than any other company I'm aware of. Hell, the big company that dare not be spoken of only really supports one of its three games really. And, to top it off, most of Spartan's games have at least 7 factions, so there's a lot to deal with. I'd love to see some updates to my beloved Ottomans, or a more balanced update schedule with one or two releases for each game each month, but the lulls in different games has given me a chance to keep up with painting my fleets. I think there's more than enough available for Dystopian Wars to ride out the Halo/Planetfall kick Spartan is on right now. Not that I'm complaining; full disclosure I'm just getting ramped up for Planetfall.
  6. Looks good! Can't wait to see them on the table!

  8. So the Spartan Games community in my area is finally starting to pick up some steam, with a few people buying into the Firestorm games. I've loved Firestorm for ages and finally bought into it with Battle for Valhalla. I've repainted my Terrans once before, and with the imminent demos I'm expecting I thought I'd re-do my Dindrenzi. My Planetfall forces are sorta celtic inspired (green and silver), so I thought I'd do something similar but more space with my fleet. I also found a klingon inspired color scheme on the forums that I really liked, so I decided to do my own interpretation of it. Without further ado, the DNS Blade of Agrona. I need to smooth out the red eye on the rail gun port, and I'm thinking about switching the red stripes to a dark blue to match my planetfall forces who have Woad markings on their tanks.
  9. Don't forget reserve forces: a squad of close range cruisers or gunships coming on once the battle lines have engaged keeps them out of the fight until your opponent is in their sweet spot, and if you've got strategic advantage you have a better chance of getting them when they'll be most important.
  10. 1250 Naval Core KOB (Me). VS Chinese Federation(Non-member): CV for the CF
  11. What was the thread?! Who was the source? Details, man! Details! Edit: Nevermind, found it! It's in the "Which Fleet should get bumped to Major Faction" discussion.
  12. 1250 KOB (Banimal) Vs. Chinese Federation (non-member): MV for KoB The Majesty Dreadnought took three turns to sink, but he bought time for the Agincourts and Tribals to cross the T and eventually board the Chinese Battleship.
  13. I played a 1500 point Land Game against the Chinese Federation yesterday (Minor Victory in their favor, but that's mostly because I was stupid and left my Sky Fortress open to boarding, but I digress), and as I was going through the rules to the Sovereign Land Ships I noticed something had changed: In the most recent update they had lost their Redoubtable MAR. This felt like a bit of kick in the 'nads, as having a redoubtable broadside and four turrets was the only thing that kept the Mk III relevant in my book. The Mk I is still cheap, but given how much better the Royal Oak is for only 60 points, and that the Mk II still has a redoubtable devastating bombard, it doesn't seem like it's worth it. I felt like Redoubtable gave each of the Sovereigns a place: The MK I was cheap but held the line together between Coordinator:Die Hard Attitude and the Guardian, The MK II would lead your second wave with its bombards, the Mk III could just drive up the line and hit lots of targets with it's turrets and broadsides, and the Royal Oak was for taking out the larger targets. Now, it just seems like the Royal Oak is a no brainer, and that's disappointing, not least because I have to order the drop-ons from the parts service and packages from the UK take ages to get here. So, fellow KoB Generals (and any Spartans who can comment on the changes), what's to be done about our Land Ships?
  14. 1250: Ottoman Empire (Me) vs. Russian Coaltion(Non-Member) Draw: game had to be called early due to work, but it was a close fought thing, and likely would have ended the next turn with both sides meeting their objectives.
  15. Played against the Russians today with the list from above (but I used two squads of 3 Mizraks rather than the Zuhafs) against: 4 Rostov Destroyers-160 3 Tiksi Support Cruisers-255 -Jammers Khatanga Heavy Battleship-235 3 Veliki Escorts-90 2 Pesets Submarines-130 2 Tunguska Large Skyships-340 -Glacier Generators He had sink all Larges, I chose 70%. The game had to be called because my opponent had to start work, but I had sunk all 3 Tiksis, one Tunguska and gotten the second down to 2 health and probably could have finished it/boarded it that turn. If I'd prized it I'd have won, as he'd only killed my Battleship and 2 of my flanking Mizraks and gotten my dread down to 2 HP. The next turn would have seen me try to sink/prize the tunguska, while he'd sink/board my dread. The game was pretty even for the most part. He set up his Khatanga, Rostovs and Pesets on the far side of an island to the right flank of my whole fleet, and I used Meltemi's Fury on Turn 2 to have my dread shut them out for a turn. Some lucky rolls on turn one had me put several corrosion markers on his Tiksis with my bombards, while a few lucky rolls from his Skyships nearly scrapped my battleship on turn 1. I flanked my cruisers, hoping to use their speed to get behind him, but they just never quite got into the game. Massive MVPs were my Avci Destroyers, who steamed up from behind my wall of ships to put the killing blow on a skyship and then land another 3 points on the other one the next turn. All in all, I never felt like I couldn't have won the game. I think if I'd deployed a little deeper in my zone and stayed at RB4-3 a turn longer, I might have taken the game completely. If I had one criticism, it might be to give every ship maybe 1-2 more AD per weapon, making them a little scarier but balanced out by their relative frailness.
