  1. We do know that they removed one or two choices from the Kickstarter "pick the next expansion nation" options because they decided they were going to do them anyway in the alliance expansion. Although I wouldn't expect all nations to get strong showings in all three theaters of war, they will expand the nations based on the directions they are taking the backstory.

  2. This man is correct! I'll go a bit further and ask tell you we were testing some Aussie units at the same time as the Ottoman units. New units will be coming for all the nations. And let's not forget about the possibility of new alliance nations all together.

  3. Just note, hopefully this week the updated stats will be loaded for public use, the Magnate Mk1 changes slightly, while the Magnate Mk2 get some significant changes, but is improved IMO...

  4. Transcript, SCA 253 Change of Command Ceremony on 23 Jan 3727 Outgoing Commander's Speech: Admiral Hugh Kennings BEGIN 1321.12 Thank you, thank you very much, Governor [Alison A.] Garner, Secretaries [Adam G.] Michaels, [Ramin M.] Goskwa, [Hawker Industries] Chief [Calvin] Rossa, and my fellow admirals. Thank you, fine men and women of the Navy, the Enforcement Brigades, the Cluster Defenses, and the Naval Reserve. Thank you all, ladies and gentlemen, for being here this afternoon, this fine day on Pantriss. You honor me with your presence at this special occasion. Thank you. Governor, thank you for your extraordinary words and for this great honor you have bestowed upon me. Know that, should I take command in the Void again, I will emblazon my steed with the White Wing of Pantriss, as an honor to all the valiant people that made these last two years such a phenomenal success. These same motivated, driven, and dauntless individuals have made this position a distinct pleasure. Traditions such as this ceremony have existed past recorded history, long before our species crawled its way off of Terra and attained its birthright among the stars. In my many years of service, Like any career military man, I have attended hundreds of these. To me, today is a distinctly special ceremony among them all, though, for it is the last I will attend in uniform. The great warrior-poets of antiquity talked about the honors in battle and the restoration of the soul through mercy and kindness. Later works of the second millennium dance around the subject of brotherhood and selfless sacrifice. Five thousand years of literature and I still cannot find the right words to describe it. I must say that I gave up on trying. I am a warrior and a strategist, not a wordsmith. What could I say instead? Most retirement ceremonies are these drawn out autobiographies and I never liked those. I don't want to be one of them. So instead, I'll talk about you, my last command, and my most memorable. Ladies and gentlemen of the POC, I feel like I owe you an apology and a compliment. When I arrived here, the feeling was that I was sent to clean up a mess. The sector was reeling from a massive and costly defeat, its leader removed and its control divided among the local systems. I came in, an outsider from the Fathoms Fleets, to take command and restore the sector to fighting status. Little did I know that you all need no help in fighting. Yes, when I came in, there were a myriad of problems. We had severe gaps in sensor coverage, communications, logistics, and cooperation with our local defenses and civilian departments. There were many troubles at the start but our incessant determination turned this armada into one of the top-performing frontier fleets in the Zone. When the enemy finally showed their face, it was you that hit them with ferocity and selfless bravery. It was a spectacle; I never witnessed a battle in this command personally, but I knew from the evidence and the results, that my approach needed to change. If I could feed and fuel your ships, provide accurate intelligence and sufficient support, you could do the rest. Your initiative and drive to victory needed nothing else. In two years, we saw our numbers swell to three hundred ships, many hundreds of thousands of personnel from all over the Zone. You fought several major engagements in the void and planetside, to fantastic effect, leading to victory in the defense of the sector. In a year and a half, we progressed from a readiness of sixty percent to nearly eighty-five percent. Our all-aspect sensor coverage and scout patrols now cover four times the volume of space that were scanned in 3724. Last month, every warship in our fleet scored in the top category for gunnery, up from a mere thirty percent when I took command. This armada is at its greatest readiness, but now everything is quiet. We have not so much as seen enemy vessels in six months or had significant criminal activity. The war has heated up all around us but our corner appears to have gone cold. The Navy has recalled ships to other sectors, taking many of our newest hulls and most educated personnel. You few, who were always here, are all that remains to defend the sector when the enemy returns. And they will return! As construction continues in our central systems, this region will become a significant powerhouse in supply and ship construction, one that the enemy will be unable to ignore. When they choose to come back, it will be you who will again be required to stand in their way, to beat them back. As I hand command over to the capable hands of Admiral [Lindsey] Rous, I fear a renewed attack is all but imminent. I also know that this attack will not be the same as the one that brought about my short command here. The enemy will not be passing over the POC; they will be going for your throat. This will be their undoing, for every time the enemy has stood to fight face-to-face, you have met them with both fists. It will be a spectacular feat of arms, one worthy of note in the history logs on Terra. My only-- truly, my only regret is that my command has ended before I could see it. Train hard, fight harder, and above all win, to honor those who have fallen in the battles past. Stoke the fires that make you such effective warriors. This is your sector and it will be your blood that will keep it. Please accept the deepest gratitude, all of you, from the core of this old man's heart, for your discipline, dedication, and steadfast resolve to uphold our great Charter, and the loyalty and faith you placed in me for these last two years. Thank you very much. End 1330.26

  5. Hi all ! I add a few thing to the wishlist : - a new system for SAS (faster and more "reallistic") - a new moral rules (I don't like the 1D3 AP/HP loss rule to recover from disorder status) - give back splitfire option for SAS ! 15AD of bomb against a single frigate is just stupid. A squadron of bombers attacking a group of frigates will naturally distribute themselves among differents targets. - change the MAR attached to volley gun to make really different from other specialized weapons. Remove Redoutable but add "this weapon ignores Small Target, Ellusive Target and Difficult Target MAR on target", add "Air Hunter +1", and keep "high angle". And why not also allow AA to be used against surface targets (which is a reallistic use of this kind of weapons) with a special rule giving DR cause 1AP loss and CR cause 1AP+1HP. This would enable fighter to hunt down tiny models and strafe small targets and give larger models an addition weapons a short range.

I quite like what seems to have happened in my meta. unless spotters are specifically being used to spot something with a firing solution in mind, they tend to just drop out of the game. my last few games mine and my opponents spotters get activated first turn then generally (unless there is a howitzer requiring their eyes) just get ignored for the rest of the game except for being jumped on by Fighter wings. it's not something we have decided as a meta, it just seems to have evolved that none of us can be bother messing around with spotters once they have served the purpose of indirect fire support.

  7. Is that your wish, or what you believe the rules currently are? Because right now, generators activate in the command consolidation phase, just before movement (unless otherwise specified). Frustrates the hell out of me with all my target painter generator models.

  8. Have a look at the Multipurpose models and make sure they're relevant in both naval and armoured theaters. I'm think about stuff like Dreadbots(overpowered in armoured)Metzgers, Washingtons and that ottoman walking airfield.

  9. How about having a difference between wheeled/tracked and walkers: •give Walkers the ability to "wade" across rivers, etc (as long as base is touching land, doesn't count water as impassable, and also doesn't take water damage. Penalty: wading halves Mv) •wheeled/tracked vehicles get a bonus 25% Mv if moving completely on road terrain (Penalty: model must make the equivalent of a Swift Manoeuvre. If failed, it destroys the road)

  10. Wayfarers: In yet another case of Terrans sucking at fleet classification convention (heavy cruisers that are actually gunships, a dreadnought that is actually a super-battleship, a pocket battleship that somehow ended up being a battle-cruiser, and of course, the "torpedo destroyer"...), the Wayfarer fits the role of corvette in the Terran Alliance fleet while being called a "light frigate". There is nothing light about this "light frigate" aside from DR3 and a distinct lack of torpedoes. It is fast, has the same broadside batteries as an Armsmen frigate, still gets a shield and on top of that, gets Sector Shielding. Because 2 shields on a frigate that doesn't require you to sacrifice speed and a TAC slot LOL! These little gits are the bane of anything called a "destroyer", due to being hard to hit for nearly all capital ships, and their ridiculous (for Terrans anyway) speed. If your opponent doesn't bring a squadron of destroyers, then the Wayfarers can sit back with the Armsmen and Teutons in the early game and snipe poor, defenseless frigates with 6AD broadsides at 40". Be sure to use Sector Shielding when enemies are at a distance, makes it more likely that those 2SH from Sectoring will come into play. A squadron size of 3 to 6 ships is large for the Terran small ship squadrons, and gives you a chunkier frigate squadron for the same cost as four Armsmen. You get no hard points or upgrades, because it's only a frigate! Perseus: The unholy love child of a Teuton and an Isonade, the Perseus is a fast cruiser capable of fighting off other Tier 3s and sometimes Tier 2s. 10"MV means you can get into and out of trouble fairly quickly for a Terran ship with "cruiser" in the designation. Without upgrades and hard points, the Perseus has good firepower with decent beam weapons in most arcs, and 'meh' torpedoes. Oddly for a Terran ship, your fore beam weapons are not limited to Fore Fixed, but instead have Fore Arc. This ship also has Reinforced Fore and Sector Shielding. You use that to drive towards something while making it harder for them to damage you. Then you swing around to point your broadsides at the target and mulch them. For hard point options you have a choice of +1SH and Shield Projector (Self) for +5pts, or Turrets for +0pts. Take the turrets, they're free! For the upgrade slot, the Perseus gets Weapon Shielding. You take this too, so that enemies will have to kill off your light cruisers to actually degrade their firepower. With the turret weapons fitted, you can sit back and snipe like a scrub in RB3 with 12AD from linking your turrets and broadsides, or 6AD at RB4 if you're afraid of getting your paint scratched. If you give no fraks, you charge at the enemy, using terrain to mask your approach and then unleash a hot 14AD load on your enemy's face in RB2. The torpedoes are still meh. Harpoons: You've got to be kidding me, right? EDIT: I suppose I could do the Harpoon... The Harpoon does everything that the Artemis can do, but better. Because reasons. It is a torpedo destroyer that can sit back at long range and spam 14AD salvos at anything without an Interceptor escort or buckets of Point Defence (like frigates...). It has the same defences as most Terran Tier 2 ships, with one shield, DR4, CR6, PD3 and HP4. This doesn't matter, because you can kemp bush and still spam your torpedoes which ignore all Line of Sight restrictions. Unlike the Artemis which has to sit in the open like a scrub and fire its stupidly short ranged guns. If the enemy closes on you, you can run, because unlike the Artemis you don't lose your only good defensive MAR if you move. Alternately, if the enemy closes on you, you can fight. This is because the Harpoon actually gets guns that are worth more than a steaming pile of dog *****. In battle, you fire the 14AD torpedo spam at anything that is a Tier 3, just like the Artemis did before it got replaced by the Harpoon. Eventually, you may find that the enemy is in RB3. This is fine, because you still get 12AD of torpedo spam. You can also spam your torpedoes from half way across the damn table. You do not get close to the enemy, if you do you will be a boarding magnet because of your crappy AP1. For the hard point options, you get +1SH and Shield Projector (Self) for +5pts, or Turret Weapons for +5pts. For upgrades you get a choice of either Stealth Systems (if you want to be sneaky Hobbitses) or Torpedo Spook (if you give no fraks about enemy Point Defence) for +10pts, and the choice between Decimator Warheads or Nuclear Torpedoes for +5pts. The only thing you don't get is Weapon Shielding, which is fine because the poor old Artemis never got it either. If you want to hunt frigates and corvettes, you take Nuclear Torpedoes for more inferno, Stealth Systems and +1SH and Shield Projector (Self). If you intend to take on Tier 2s and make carrier drivers cry, you take Decimator Warheads, Torpedo Spook and Turrets. Now go out there, and crush frigates until someone brings those stupid OP Works Raptor Torpedo Cruisers with their 15AD at all ranges torpedo spam and rips you a new one...
